Winter Voices can best be described in one word, and that word is "divisive". Some like the game as a whole, others think that the whole thing is bad, though general consensus is that it's a very good idea brought down by bad pacing and as interesting and even engaging as the "combat" system is, it's lackluster and frustrating.
And that's entirely true, though I think that the story, novelty, sondtrack and artwork (oh gawd the artwork) more than make up for it.
I had fun with this game and I support the developers, though it's certainly not for everyone. Even if you have a strong attention span and good patience, you'll probably find yourself bored by the third episode.
Also, you can romance a crow. Make of that what you will.
Another problem that the game has are the enemies themselves. As much poetry they spout at you and as spooky as they are, they just aren't threatening. Oh no, a vaguely defined amorphous blob of... blue. A swirly thing - except I can damage this swirly thing but not the amorphous thing. They never seem threatening; the protagonist is supposed to be on the edge of sanity, and at several points in the game, starving and freezing to death, yet the enemies just don't encapsulate that.
Tl;dr: A good game brought down by bad pacing. Also it's really pretty. Also blobs are not good enemies.
Edit: Note than when I say not for people with low attention spans, I was serious. It's so slow-paced and quite boring at times, and I picked the game up and dropped it constantly. It took me an insanely long time to even get one playthrough done.
