Say or think what you will about the man himself, a lot of his stunts these days are inexcusable, but looking beyond that and focusing on this album alone you will find an marvelous piece of work that could easily be called Kanye's opus.
It's scale is grandiose to baroque levels of extravagance. With many guests and samples abound. Altogether this album is made of many moments. The ending monologue at 'Blame Game', Nicki Minaj's performance on 'Monster'(which truly makes the track memorable), and outro of 'Lost In The World' are the first that come to mind.
There's been a great deal of thought behind the sounds arranged here and how they work. The chime of the piano on 'Runaway' resembles the tapping sound of silverware on glass which works with the lyrics, "Let's have a toast for the assholes." Speaking of assholes, the song itself puts an interesting perspective on of how many of those who achieve greatness usually end up being perceived as such. Sometimes in order to achieve whatever it is they wish to accomplish you have to become what "you hate the most" - an asshole.
Another example of this is during the end of 'Power' were he claims he has the power "to make life so exciting", which echos off in delays and soon starts to sound like "suicide" which plays off Kanye contemplating a "beautiful death".
Overall this album is simply a masterpiece. Personally, I think Kanye may not surpass this one.
Also on even more personal note, this is a great album for a burst of confidence before a job interview, but I digress.
