USOT is widely held up in the multiple community for realism, it is as of yet the most positive and realistic portrayals of DID in popular media.
I greatly enjoy USOT, it shows the frustrations and drama that come from having alters, but also that other people's lives happen, that systems can learn to work together, and that people with DID are not schizophrenic/insane/murderous... While the constant outfit switching in season one was annoying, it was partially believable, and necessary for the audience to tell who was in control of the body. It's gotten much better in season three so far, with Tara out of the house so much, who-ever's fronting doesn't have the ability to change clothes, and Toni is able to show who is who without the wardrobe change.
It's also very nice to see a DID show that doesn't focus singularly on the host person with DID. Max has a job, Kate has a need to leave, Marshall has the stresses of being a gay teen (I wish they'd give him more than being gay as his character, but you win some you lose some). Buck's romance with Pammy shows the alters as people, not just personalities Tara puts on when she feels like it, and the drama with T shows that Tara's not always in control (though Dr. Hattarras would beg to differ up until about episode 5).
I have pretty much nothing but good to say about this show, it has only gotten better as it progressed. While Marshall could use some character development, they've done fantastically on just about everything else so far.
Main Best portrayal yet
