Of all the books in the series I have probably read this one more than any other, in particular the first 100 or so pages from the beginning where we are introduced to Janessa until the family goes their separate ways after the funeral. When the book was published there was no internet to know that Dana Fuller Ross was a pen name, nor that a new author took over the name. I was also in my teens, and the continuity problems so obvious to my adult self were unclear to me then. I still enjoy the book, but I have had to make a personal head canon that the books Missouri! to Louisiana! didn't exist, and that the West Point celebration at the end of Tennessee was Henry's graduation, with his success allowing him to graduate a year early.
Still recommended. I just wish the editors did a better job.
