This film has great special effects, but completely takes everything that was good about the first film, shoots it, stabs it, blows it up, sets the corpse on fire, and then spits on the ashes.
First, Xander Cage doesn't even appear, he gets killed, off screen, in Bora Bora, which Gibbons' associate bemoans at several key points.
Second, Gibbons goes and "recruits" a guy that Decker is intimately familiar with. This flies completely in the face of everything Gibbons did in the first movie by recruiting Xander, and the rationale behind it.
Third, EVERYTHING Darius does pretty much goes and gives the "middle finger" to Xander, and his accomplishments.
Frankly, I'm glad there's no third movie, as I'm really not looking forward to Gibbons going "even more off the grid."
Film xXx. State of disunion.
