This movie was often aired on the Disney Channel back in the 1980s, and thus I watched it often. It is a fine movie to just let play in the background as you do other things. This is because, like other Disney films like Song of the South or The Happiest Millionaire, there isn't much in the way of antagonists; just people dealing with their problems as they go along. There just isn't much of a plot; just nice songs and pretty New England scenery. Sometimes, that is all you want, but the lack of a thrilling plot does make this an example of why musicals eventually died off.
