It can be a frustrating fic to be a fan of, whith the loooooooong time between updates.... but man, is the wait ever worth it, each and every time. The characters are great, the plot is clever, and unlike the original anime, there's an almost total absence of Idiot Ball moments... or at least no more than what's reasonable for teenage protagonists. The futuristic setting of Third Tokyo is interesting and seems pretty well thought-out; you can well imagine that society might rebuild like this after the fall of Crystal Tokyo. Don't wait for this to be finished before you start reading it; you're missing out on greatness.

One of, if not the best, works of Sailor Moon fiction that I have ever read. This fic had me alternately laughing, crying, and outright shuddering during the first nine chapters. A fic that, with its irregular updates, is well worth the trouble of waiting for.

An amazing piece of work; incomplete, but not a Dead Fic.
FanficRecs Beyond the Crystal Millennium
I cannot say enough good things about this fic. Folks who are fans of the more cheery tone of the original series may find this fic a bit dark at times, but it is the worthy by-product of the basic premise and not unnecessary angsting. The core concept is a dark one — the idea that not every fight can be won — and the Crystal Millennium has met its end without ever knowing why. However, the story is not mired down in bleakness. Set 700 years later, the human race has moved on, learning to live without Serenity and the wonders she offered. This future created by Angus Mac Spon feels lived-in, with cultural norms and historical events that make it feel unique rather than alien. The characters, both those from the main series and those created for the fic, are fantastically well-written. I wish the show had developed the series' characters as well as this fic does, and the original characters — and there are lots of them — each have their own unique voice. There are no Mary Sues here. The plot balances character interactions with the occasional Monster of the Week and unravelling the greater mystery of what's threatening the world and what ended the Crystal Millennium 700 years earlier.
If you enjoy fics of the action-adventure variety at all, I would definitely give this one a read. While it is slow to update, even the unfinished story (currently at 14 chapters) is worth having read. Angus Mac Spon weaves the story's greater mystery with moments of humour, warmth, excitement, drama, and sometimes, chilling horror. A must-read.
