This was entertaining... sort of. This is mostly because quality Pokemon fanfiction is hard to come by, so when there's a story completed with actual arcs and developed characters, you get placated more easily.
However, that isn't to say this story isn't riddled with flaws. Mood whiplash is poorly done - it goes from Tearjerking moments to Black Comedy (arguably unintentional in some instances) in just two sentences.
A thing about the humor; it uses dark humor with no purpose, like the author is shoving multiple tropes at once without careful consideration. Take Brock's genitals being shoved up his mouth; it's such an absurd and unbelievable act that the seriousness of Ash's Face-Heel Turn to the Dark Side becomes sort of humorous. The Mood Whiplash here seems unintentional and generally comes off as confusing.
The plot sporadically jumps, and so do the characters. At the time I read it, I liked having a big plot and an arsenal of characters, but despite that, there are tons of problems I've had. For starters? Latias and Rayquazza's relationship. It uses Reincarnation Romance, where their love is forever and definite and— wait, isn't this guy the main villain to the entire premise of the story (which got lost somewhere in the plot)? Didn't he kill her friends and the entire city? Why did she forgive him? It doesn't make sense and it completely undermines the attempted Reincarnated Romance!
The gratuitous amounts of rape scenes and absurd things makes the story lose Realism. Somewhere along the way, readers Stopped Caring.
An example? I feel like May was picked on for absolutely no reason. The villains personally mess with her for no real plot reason. So much happened for no reason to villains or plot, and as a reader I stopped caring. May isn't the only one, either; other characters are unnecessarily beaten down. Serious Character Overload takes the story Out of Focus, too. Characters are sporadically introduced; expect constant POV switches.
Not on just the characters, but also the plot. From Latias's city to the Planet to the Universe.
If you're looking for a story with a lot of content with a glamour of development, this story isn't bad . It could be worse than some of the stuff out there on fanfic.
But if you're looking for a story that the author took time to develop properly? Go somewhere else.
FanficRecs Brutal Honesty. (For Ri2's Latias's Journey.)
