Although some shipping does occur, this is not a shipping fic. It would be best characterised as a mystery/action story, I think.
iloveteamfortresstoo has two great strengths in her writing: her descriptions and her characterisations.
Let's start with the descriptive writing. She is capable of describing a scene in exquisite detail in a way that hints at pieces of plot that haven't happened yet. Even though some of the descriptive passages are pretty long, they never get dull or purple because you have a sense that any detail you miss will come to be important in the future. This ties in very neatly into her well-paced, tightly controlled writing style. There are no pages and pages of exposition, and the back story is slowly revealed as the story continues.
And the characterisation is great! Well within the bounds of canon, but not afraid to explore 'what-if' situations. In particular, the BLU Spy is firmly in the love-to-hate category. The protagonist, the RED Sniper, stumbles along, thrown into an environment he can barely cope with (there are people in it! And they keep being friendly! What is he supposed to do?!), and not noticing how concerned the team is over his predicament.
I really can't say much about the plot without spoiling everything, so I'll just say: go and read. Even if you don't care for Sniper/Spy, you will enjoy this justifiably popular fic.
