This concerns not only to Different, a Tron Uprising fic, but its sequels too: Rogue, and a myriad of crossovers with the MCU, all of them by Welcome to the New. There are some minors spoilers, so consider yourself warned.
Different is kind of a novelization of Uprising. The difference is a new character, Mira, a user that got trapped in the Grid following Flynn when she was 6, and is now grown up to 16. It follows the plot of the series and later of the MCU, though the 2º and 3º stories, Rogue and Freedom, follow some original plots. All the canon is basically unchanged, so if you've already seen them you know what to expect.
Mira starts fairly inoffensive. A curious kid following Flynn in his Arcade, gets rezzed into the Grid, panics and gets lost. She wanders from city to city, and by the start of the story she's roughly 16. But she shadows Beck in his relationships character growth, not adding much to the mix. She doesn't have any kind of rival or ally of her own. It's stated that she met some characters as a kid that helped her survive at the start, but not much is done with it when relevant except with Castor, and since she's only following the canon of Uprising, she only meets the same people as Beck and makes the same relationships. She is friends with his friends and rivals with his rivals in almost the same way as him. She even speak some of their lines for them. In Rogue, she finally follows her own character arc, and an interesting one at that. But she ends being shipped with Beck at some point, which didn't really did much for me.
In Freedom, when the MCU hits, she quickly becomes part of the Avengers family, including a plot twist coming out of nowhere that doesn't add much other than repeated stances of her complaining of being over-controlled. There's no real sense that any character dislikes her, except in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. part, and in some cases there is no real build up to any good standing (she doesn't meet Thor until the eighth story, and he still quickly warms to her).
There are other issues with the plot, some maybe subjective to the reader's opinion. Concept of time is a bit confusing. Later on a 1º person narration is introduced only for Mira's sequences out of the blue. Lyrics to author's favorite songs are added without much meaning or stylistic justification. SHIELD has tabs on Tron and CLU without having actually been there to know of them. The Grid seems to be a parallel dimension, but it's physically in a computer, but portals can be opened anywhere in the world...? Sorry, I don't get that one.
It bothers me being this negative to an otherwise inoffensive fic, but all in all it's a confusing retelling of both universes without much to add to the originals. If anything mentioned is a red flag for you, then you can consider yourself advised.
PS: Please note that there's a rewrite of Different in progress, but I haven't read any of it by now.
