Dont get me wrong — I love the Beyblade Burst series. It is endearing, but I do admit its worldbuilding and character usage is some of the poorest executions Ive seen
This series starts off grounded in reality. Which is cool! And then it suddenly becomes more fantasy and darker... That is not my problem. My problem is that as the series progresses, it cant seem to decide what genre it wants to be. It eventually becomes a mish-mash of realism and fantasy, which is rather jarring. How come no referee is fazed by alleged possession/dark power/something shady going on? Is Phi really of supernatural origin or is there a mundane story? Burst's world is a heap of randomness that no one reacts appropriate to, nor have the answers to help the audience
And the character usage... It is true that all Beyblade series are basically advertizements, but cmon! The last 2 series had better usage of characters. When a new character appears on Burst, do not get attached to them. They will be in the spotlight for a few episodes (to a season), and might never come back. The series throws away as many characters as they churn out new ones. They will either be half-baked and hated; or mildly interesting only to never appear again
This series will still be in my heart, though. If you like a realistic protagonist, you might want to watch this. Our protagonist is a young boy named Valt, who practices Beyblade a lot rather than being a powerhouse like Gingka and Tyson. He is a really sweet and likeable protagonist, and that was nice
