Ranma1/2 example: I haven't seen the anime version, but in the manga Kodachi doesn't have a rope which snaps into an iron rod, she has a solid iron rod which is sculpted and painted to look like a rope (but can't be used as one).
There is also that time from Fate/Zero when Kiritsugu makes a contract with Lord El Melloi stating that he won't kill him and his wife if he orders Diarmuid to commit suicide. Though later he has Maya snipe them out from a roof...
