Re the Fridge Brilliance listed about Thurman's character using heat vision to cut her hair - isn't this a shoutout to the Superman DC comic strip plotline run in the early 80s that covered the effects of Red Kryptonite?

I seem to remember the plot involving Supes suffering massive overgrowth of hair, nails etc...

That's a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

If it's a reference to anything, it's to Superman using his heat vision to shave, which most of his incarnations do.

The main page says a gender-swapped version of this would be nightmarish. But seeing as I see ALL abuse as bad, I had a nightmare where I was with G-Girl, and G-Girl RIPPED MY LEFT ARM OFF in one point!

I can see how that'd be traumatic. Yeesh.

The point of that entry being though, is that between Super Girl going psycho on Man, and Super Guy going psycho on Woman, one concept is considered a comedy that may mildly go over the edge. The other would be burned at the stake with pitchforks by soceity, and be used to showcase the supposed treatment of women in this day and age to be horrendous. The movie's idea is horrifying either way, but the way it treats the idea with it's gender roles is just as scary to contemplate.
