I want to challenge \'\'VideoGame/ShaqFu\'\'. While the game does have \"mediocre-at-best\" controls[[note]]And I\'d even argue not even bad enough to be qualified as horrible, but {{YMMV}} on that, so let\'s ignore that point[[/note]], it does have several redeeming qualities.
The presentation is quite polished, with quite pretty-looking environments and a fairly good soundtrack. While the sprites are somewhat too small, the animation are, if I dare say, quite ahead of their time. There\'s even a few nice touches, like character portraits changing expression depending of how much damage they took.
The lore is also interesting, if you look past, well, Shaq being here. I agree that the main story is completely nonsensical[[note]]Though to be fair, I fail to see why that point is brought up so often about \'\'that\'\' game in particular ; usually, no one cares about the story in fighting games[[/note]], but the chaqracters and their backstories are actually pretty cool. A mind-controlled catgirl from outer-space ? A demon created from an evil sorcerer\'s shadow ? Admit it, that\'s kinda cool. Besides, aside from story mode, each individual character can get their own ending in 1-player versus mode[[note]]Don\'t ask me why they didn\'t call it \"Arcade mode\" or something, but that\'s basically what it is, and it\'s often overlooked[[/note]]. Mephis is Voodoo\'s father. I\'m saying, because I\'m probably the only person in the world to know that.
I\'ll end by mentioning that this game did have some good ideas. While it\'s primarily ripping off \'\'VideoGame/StreetFighterII\'\' fighting system[[note]]Hey, at least they copied a \'\'good\'\' system[[/note]], thigns like the FURY bar, while poorly implemented, are interesting ideas in themselves.
Is \'\'VideoGame/ShaqFu\'\' a good game ? No. Is it a bad game ? Definitely. Is it one of the worst games of all time and deserving to be qualified as \"Horrible\" ? My vote is on \"\'\'Heck no\'\'\".
