Also, to suggest an alternative they could have used: When the king dies they attack the servants who\'d been handling the cloak...who were standing right there, as I recall. Dastan, not wanting to see them killed without a trial, jumps in and protects them. Seeing him protecting suspected murderers, they assume a conspiracy, and attack him, and Dastan and the servants have to escape together. The movie then proceeds, only skipping the bandits because Dastan already has his side-kicks.
