First, the military actually saves the Animorphs\' lives once they\'re allied. While escorting the bomb the kids gets attacked by morph-capable Controllers, and are nearly defeated, but then the troops come and kill the Yeerks. Second, they specify the bomb needed to blow up the Yeerk pool. The kids only had a vague idea of using a nuke, but the Captain offers a non-nuclear bomb better suited for the job.
