Frankly, 15 years ago, very few Americans would be scared by a Stringy-Haired Japanese Ghost Girl, so using something like that in America would have been silly. It wouldn\\\'t have evoked the necessary terror, and thus the ritual wouldn\\\'t have been fulfilled. So, Japan uses their horror tropes, America uses theirs, and so on.
