Under Misaimed Fandom, one of the things that can lead to a misaimed fandom is if the author fails to convincingly make the point they were intending. If the intent was to make Katara a Woobie with a Freudian Excuse, I\'m afraid I\'m not convinced.

Edit: I don\\\'t see much of a big paradox in canon!Katara\\\'s behavior. She does switch from Sugar Queen to semi-ruthless or downright mean behavior on occasion, she does have a temper. Some of this is because of issues surrounding her mother\\\'s death and having to take over her role. Some is because the Gaang is usually in desperate circumstances with the fate of the world in the balance. Some is because she apparently lives in a cartoon universe where encasing someone in ice up to their neck doesn\\\'t hurt them. It\\\'s not hidden, it doesn\\\'t need a deep Freudian Excuse explanation. The paradox that needs explaining only occurs when Vathara escalates things past what we saw in canon.

As for the Woobie, a Woobie is a character you want to comfort and for whom you want to make the pain go away. It\\\'s not a character you want to slap some sense into or one that makes you feel relieved when they experience some karmic repercussions for their actions. Somewhere between chapters 25 and 30, Embers!Katara passed... not a Moral Event Horizon but some sort of Aggravation Event Horizon that killed off most of my sympathy for the character.

That being said, I have rekindled hopes for the story now that there have been some repercussions in chapter 31 and Katara and Zuko are going to stay away from each other for a while.
