As for Prince Laashe... the Sun lost. Plain and simple. He LOST. Luna stepped in and cheated, but the Sun lost. He was conquered and Luna saved him.

(And for how much they\\\'re playing up that he\\\'s Unconquered-not-Unconquerable, and Stuff Happens If You Conquer Him... this would seem like a retcon of their own retcons.)

Samsara was and... awkward kludge to handle the problem of fate clearly affecting things outside of it. It\'s something that quite a few members of the fans don\'t like (I\'m neutral on it), but it was also something that pretty much had to come to pass because they wrote themselves into a hole before that. Samsara didn\'t get them OUT of that hole, it just attempted to make the best of an oops.
