I feel like the games having dark elements isn't that big but it's how it relates to real life. Poverty, parental abuse and homelessness are the three big things there and it's much more realistic than someone causing genocide recently. In fact that's also why I think it should count as a Deconstruction or at least Reality Ensues.

Also you could argue the last couple of games besides X and Y\'s genocidal plot were more subtle. This one really isn\'t. But yeah once the Knight of Cerebrus goes away it\'s pretty light and happy again.
