See, okay, that there is sort of the problem when I say people are overstating the darkness.

See, okay, that there is sort of the problem when I say people are overstating the darkness. \"Guzzlord stating to have ate a person.\" That\'s coming from a single line of dialogue (in optional, post-game content, no less) stating that someone has been \"[[NeverSayDie done in]]\" by an unspecified Ultra Beast. Yet you\'re stating it as a fact that someone is said to have been eaten by Guzzlord.

I said earlier (before playing the game) that the fact the first half of the game is light-hearted doesn\'t necessarily mean that the game can\'t be DarkerAndEdgier. The lightness of the first half \'\'can\'\' be used to contrast the darkness coming later. But in this case, that lightness never stops peeking through. Even when things are at their darkest, with Nebby getting drained and the Ultra Beasts released, the work is still optimistic and we\'re seeing the quest to stop the Ultra Beasts not as an edgy fight for their lives but as a still light-hearted romp where your travelling companion is happier than ever and doing goofy poses. And when you do confront the BigBad, no one dees, she even gets redeemed and it\'s ultimately revealed that nothing she did was even her fault (theoretically undermining the whole \"child abuse\" thing, which is also not really DarkerAndEdgier either). There\'s even a DancePartyEnding.

I\'m not saying the game doesn\'t have dark and/or edgy elements. But I\'m saying that they\'re not dark\'\'er\'\' or edgi\'\'er\'\' to constitute a tone shift compared to earlier works.
