There was this educational series dealing with a small crew of marine biologists (or oceanographers). The plot and characters were fictional, but it heavily incorporated real documentary footage of marine life too. the main characters were a man who I think was captain, his son (who was sort of the AudienceSurrogate), and a deaf woman. The woman was the one who did most of the diving, I believe. I think I was watching it in the early 90\'s, but it could be older than that. I have no idea if this was ever actually aired on TV, or if it was just a series that was expressly made to be shown in schools - we watched several episodes in a science or biology class and I never saw it elsewhere.
