This is pointless if you know even but one iota of how to run MAME and Kaillera, but good on Konami on helping this game to reach more people

Uh huh. Can you get Achievements/Trophies with MAME? Can you play online games with MAME? Will MAME have revamped graphics in HD?

Some versions of MAME actually did/do support online play.

But to be honest I'd rather have a port. Emulators in my experience are... a last resort at best.

Also, who are Backbone Entertainment and what's wrong with them?

^^^ I agree about emulators. I've always considered them... unreliable. Only the best resort if you can't normally get the game otherwise - like if you want a DOS game but only have a mac.

^^Their emulation quality is mediocre at best and they have trouble with stuff non-profit coders figured out since a decade.

They did a good job with the XBLA/PSN version of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, tho.

Don't forget Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. That was also a Backbone production.

People complain about Backbone, but Backbone is pretty much the only company willing to port classic titles on systems for the Western Market. I know because I own enough compilations to recognize that Digital Eclipse/Backbone Entertainment logo. It's pretty much them, M2, and Terminal Reality now, the latter one dedicating themselves to the Wii, PSP, and PS 2 and the former only actually getting their work in the West due to the Virtual Console.
