Good idea?:

I need a drink
So my favourite website has once again announced its annual film festival where, if you win, you actually get a contract with Escapist Magazine. THE gaming magazine.

Now I always wanted to enter but I could never really come up with a story or concept I liked. Then after a while I came up with this, very basic, idea. What do you guys think?

A classic video game character, similar to Megaman or maybe Sonic, finds that he, and his verse, has been rebooted and finds himself trying to adjust to these changes. He finds himself in a dimension where his past incarnations live out the rest of their lives and questions his relationships with his game's antagonist and vice-versa.

I'll admit part of this was partly Alan Moore's run on Supreme and I similarly hope to use a heavy dose of meta-fiction of my own while exploring a few Gaming tropes. Do you think it would catch on?

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.
Sounds good to me. There's much potential on exploring gaming trends using with this idea. The first thing I thought was the character finding out that his universe is Darker and Edgier, being horrified by the actions of his new self etc. (Or, alternatively, the new universe is now Lighter and Softer to achieve a PG rating 12.)

Anyway, it sounds like something I would be interested in.

That thought crossed my mind as well actually! Though I finally went with the lastest version of the character (whose some strange hybrid of Mario and Mega Man in my mind at the moment) being Lighter and Softer as a result of his company trying to "go back to basics". I thought one of his Antagonists, besides his Bowser figure, could even be an earliar, Darker and Edgier version of himself whose been Contemplating his Navel a little too long.

Are you a filmmaker?

Well, sort of. I've helped my cousin out a bunch of times with his filmming projects and I've done one or two very short, very cheap films. I was thinking of staying clear away from live action with this though. I thought I would experiment with cut-out animation similiar to the original South Park or even what the original Mega Man sprites looked like.

Oh OK, sure.

I'd file this under "good idea assuming you have the time and resources to do it."

Resources won't be too hard. Construction paper, board, camera etc. Time is going to be the issue. If I find that I won't be able to do it in time, I'll work on it till next year.

What I've come up with so far is a character who, for the most part, is a Captain Ersatz of Mario, whose appearance resembles that of Mega Man but whose career is that of Sonics, with elements of Crash Bandicoot thrown in for good measure.

The incarnations so far are the pixelated Original, the Classic, the limited edition Fighting Game Guest Star, the Darker and Edgier and the Movie Game version.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
