Not every game, but she's borderline broken in IN
Meanwhile Marisa is better off in others owing to either faster speed or more importantly more powerful shot types.
That and Marisa B(ugged) in MOF.
Don't forget the Malice Cannon too.
Murdering time and space. Now on Twitter.x5 I'm pretty sure it depends on your preferences. The better coordinated may like Reimu for her hitbox, but those who would like to get through stages quicker may choose Marisa.
Personally, I prefer Marisa for fairness. I like shooting people down quicker so I can get those delicious bonuses.

I would like to thank Zansnae for recommending Impossible Spell Card to beginners. I've finally decided to play it, and am now having a blast. Figuratively and repeatedly literally to the face.
Combining nearly literally impossible spell cards with a spell-practice-like pace makes this game extremely action-heavy yet paradoxically relaxing compared to the main series (which generally has to be played in one sitting, more or less). Quick retries allows the player to master scenes through practice or sheer determination. I just now defeated the Okuu-powered Mokou in Day 3 Scene 4 after 114 tries and accusations of masochism by the game. This game actually feels more like a puzzle game. Which is good for me, I always wanted Touhou Puzzle.
Murdering time and space. Now on Twitter.x3 Depends on the game. Reimu tends to be consistently good with her balanced shots. Marisa's shots tend to be more gimmicky, so she can fluctuate between really good (Eo SD, DDC) to really bad (IN, UFO).
Reimu A in PCB is the only occasion I remember where she's outright bad, and that's only because of her shit damage.
Also Reimu/Suika in SA.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!Reimu is a pretty dubious choice in LoLK. Marisa is worse, but still
Reimu's homing shot is easy mode in DDC, at least. Although I still haven't beaten the game.
Actually, Sakuya A is by far the easiest to win that game with.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableReally? Huh.
Funny thing - I've had the best luck with Reimu/Suika in SA, even though I can recognize that it's not terrific.
Sakuya has pseudo-homing shots that deal decent damage when you account for the burst, and a heavily defensive bomb that can be two bombs in the right situation.
If I remember correctly, doesn't DDC Sakuya A's focused shot slow down the target's rate of fire so you'll theoretically have to deal with less bullets?
Murdering time and space. Now on Twitter.Yes, Sakuya A in DDC is awesome. I got my first ever 1 credit clear with her.
I know her focus shots have some kind of enemy-slowing ability, but I don't remember exactly what, or if it affects bosses.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.AFAIK it doesn't do anything to bosses, except Raiko during Blue Lady Show due to a glitch.

And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!Well, after not having played the game in months, I now have a second 1CC on DDC. This one was with Reimu A on Easy Mode. I tried the Extra stage with her, but my computer crashed as I was fighting the Tsukumos. I'm hoping that was just a fluke and not a bug in the game.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever. So I was looking around Danbooru, and I stumped across this pool again. Since I posted it first time around after DDC, I was wondering what other thematic Touhou stores there would be.
- Seiran and Ringo: Mochi and Dango co-joint stall
- Doremy: Dream Suite
- Junko: Stress Therapy
Clownpiece : Hamburger joint
Hecatia : Weird T Stand
Sagume : (Mis)Fortune telling
Junko : Mooncake Store except all the mooncakes have "Die Chang'E" written on them
Sumi : Chuuni costume store ( Cloaks and Capes galore)

I believe Reimu is usually cited as the best character for beginners in bascly every game.
