That is way more than one wing.
Actually, Touhoumon has advanced even further since then, and Reisen is now Illusion type. Which kinda makes sense.

i was waiting for that exact thing
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaTo be honest, she doesn't really remind me of Sephiroth at all.
Also, she has a beat-up defeated portrait in the files, but I don't think she ever uses it. [1]

Oh wow, that is interesting! She is so awesome that she removed her own defeat portrait from actual gameplay!
"Oh boy, if someone were to defeat me in an honorable duel, I would totally cry like a little girl. Totally, you guys (you listening, universe?)"
So does that image confirm the mic bowtie?
She also either has a red undershirt is bleeding profusely.
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments. They keep forgetting she has fairy wings. Because she's a fairy.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI haven't really enjoyed playing the main Touhou games for a while, but since a new game is out I decided to try it anyway.
I used Reisen to no bomb clear Pointdevice Mode on Normal, and regular clear it on Legacy Mode. The no bomb clear was half saving bombs for the end and half deciding that since I made it through most of the game without them I might as well finish that way. A few of Clownpiece and Junko's attacks took a bunch of tries, but nothing like the later parts of StB/DS.
The stage five and six bosses have a few attacks that remind me why I don't like the main games any more. Junko's micro-dodging attacks are one of them. You either risk your lives and having to do the whole game over again hoping you'll make it through or trivialize them by bombing. There's no way to attempt them and bomb only when you realize you're not going to make it. All of the attacks that kill you if you start in the normal safe area near the bottom are another. You need to have a lot of parts memorized in advance if you don't want to die or waste a bomb. Prison Sign "Flash and Stripe" would be better if the stars came first instead of the lasers.

Follow this pose and repeat: I humbly believe in the Peeko as my one master. The webbed hands just make that more frightening
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm pretty sure that addressing those problems is literally the entire point of Pointdevice mode. You can attempt cards without fear of losing lives, and bomb only when you're absolutely sure that further attempts will be a waste of time. You can also have cards that create immediate danger without worrying about cheap deaths because they don't actually matter.
Yeah, I basically agree with that. Pointdevice Mode feels like a hybrid between the traditional main games and the sidegames. You still have the full set of six stages/bosses, but with most of the risk replaced with retrying. The low risk of Pointdevice Mode makes things that wouldn't work well in the traditional gameplay acceptable. The repetitiveness it creates cuts down on replay value though because, like with the sidegames, beating Pointdevice Mode again means you need to redo all the difficult/repetitive parts.
Trying to beat the game on Legacy Mode brings most of the issues back. Even though it's not the main gameplay mode now it's still a part of the game, and since it's what matches up with the rest of the series skipping it feels like leaving the game halfway done. That's probably part of the reason why the traditional mode was moved over to Legacy and the new mode made the default. With about a dozen traditional games, if it was the other way Pointdevice Mode would feel more like a new practice mode than an alternate way of beating the game.
For me, the new mode doesn't make the game much more fun than the rest of the main series. I'll probably wait until the next game to come out before playing again.

OMG, the Junko pics are soooo gorgeous Not a surprise in any way, since original-flavour-Junko was already gorgeous.
, Those two posts sum up the whole LOLKAT-Two-Gamemodes-Situation very well. It's a bit wonky, I feel. Such a big new thing out of the blue, and also tied into the story very intricately. Which, as I complained before, really confuses things as to which endings are canonical even more than normal, since Legacy, even though it should seem like it shouldn't even be canonical, still produces perfectly valid endings.
Gameplay-wise, this seems to be the most controversial game in recent memory, from what I read here and see on YT. So much rage on YT over so much of the gameplay, it overshadows everything else about the game. Shame. At least we here can enjoy the chars and story, which are amazing.
...especially since this Pointdevice Thing will definitely be a one-time-thing, right? I mean, it would maybe be neat as a permanent Thing in future games, but not justifiable story-wise.
Gone for this thread for about a week, and so much new info. Not much to add. Sagume is cool, Clownpiece id MURRICA, and there's Junko and Hecatia.
Now, some stuff I'm unsure about. What is Junko, exactly? Clarste's translation said she is a Divine Spirit, which IIRC is basically a baby god? She used to be a Lunarian, but she purified herself so she's no longer Lunarian? And to that, what does her "purifying" power do?
And then Hecatia. She's ruler of Hell, cool. If only we doesn't have an established Celestial Bureucracy. Yeah, how does she fit into the entire Ministry of Right and Wrong, the Yama, and orher afterlife stuff? And there are also Hells in Moon and Dream World?
Question for the people who have the game: Is Reisen still listed as Human in her profile?
Okay, so who wants to bet Chang'e will be the final boss of this saga (if it extends beyond this game)? After all, Junko's profile mentions that Chang'e 'doesn't appear in this title'...so does that mean she's gonna appear in another title?
Also, now that we have Chang'e and Hecatia in this biz, what other mythologies and religions are gonna pop up in Gensokyo in the next big incident that's gonna happen?
Nope, she's listed as lunar rabbit. The human thing was a transcription error, most likely.
Balancing the game around Point Device mode kinda mucked Legacy. Since in previous games Spell Practice is still enjoyable I'd say balancing it around Legacy wouldn't have mucked Point Device that much.

And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!Let's see...
Hecatia's the ruler of the Hell of the Earth, the Moon, and the Spirit World
Yuyuko's the ruler of the Netherworld, which seems to be something like Limbo
Shiki's the judge who decides where you go
Satori's the ruler of an old Hell which isn't in use anymore
Shinki (if she's still canon) is the ruler of Makai, which is the Demon World (and different from Hell)
I think that covers everything?

Chang'e isn't new. She's existed in Touhou lore ever since Silent Sinner in Blue.
Hecatia does set precedent for other legends and myths to be in Touhou though. Well, maybe. I dunno if Remilia and the hobgoblins count or not, but Hecatia definately sets a higher bar at least, what with being a goddess and ruler of hell, which would require an overlapping of major mytholody (hell) that just having vampires and hobgoblins wouldn't.
As for how it works out for Hell itself, well, we technically were never told if or who the ruler of hell was before. So she easily just fits that slot if that hell is one and the same with the yamas' hell (the yamas are judges of hell, and Hecatia is the ruler). This assumes that the hells are one and the same but considering how much ZUN seems to be enjoying merging myths together, I imagine they probably are. Of course, we'd need some Hecatia and Eiki/Yuyuko interactions (or even just old hell denizons recognizing her) to confirm.

And that's why the Celestial Bureaucracy is so important, because the Afterlife is very, very complicated.
Yeah, Chang'e was in S Si B, but I think this is the first time she ends up having some sort of influence in the plot of the games.
You know, I actually turned my computer back on last night before going to bed just so I could post that and find at the very least FDA's shocked reaction to it, and I must say, I feel personally betrayed.
Ich bin ein Verräter (Well, yeah, I hated everything about the pic, just like you rightfully suspected, but I'm not posting in the thread when I just have something negative to say Not here to just criticize anyone's personal tastes. I'm just generally glad that you're back, Faw <3
I know someone was waiting for this exact thing.
