@Mage How are your Touhou stories canon, when you plan on crossing them over with your Clash of the Elements stories by having Alex and possibly Riku get involved with Gensokyo?

On topic of celestials, do you think Miko can become one? I myself think the goal is laughable, if the heaven is like how it's described in the myth.

Translation question: Mamizou is talking to Kosuzu about books in foreign languages, and mentions that one of them is in English. Except she doesn't use the Japanese word for English (英語), but instead sounds it out in hiragana (not even katakana: いんぐりっしゅ). So she's literally saying "Engrish", ie: the word "English" spoken with a terrible Japanese accent. Ingurisshu. Eengrish?
I don't know how good this will actually look in practice, but I'd have her hesitate for a moment, then have her say it in italics and/or a weird font and/or with like little glittery stars around it or something, something to indicate that it's this strange, foreign concept to her and she assumes that it's the same to Kosuzu, like "my friend, have you heard about the wondrous tongue of the Englers?!"

Regarding the translation otherwise, I was a little thrown off by that page where Kosuzu and Mami both say "yeah" to one another. It feels like they probably talk more politely to one another.

I'm not sure what Mamizou's speech patterns are supposed to sound like, but isn't it something like "old-timey, but not in the stereotypically knightly kind of way but more casual"? So she could say things like... I don't know. "Chap"? "Old sport"? I dunno. Maybe "aye" instead of "yeah".

That barmaid is someone special! She has eyes! surprised (Insert new Bocaj-Headcanon-Thread-Meme here on her identity!)
I think those chapters were the first time I really noticed how background characters never seem to have eyes. But I guess it's not always the case. Might still be the case for human males, though.

I believe she talks like Holo from Spice and Wolf, if you've seen that. The big thing that stands out is 'ja' instead of 'da' as the base copula and random 'zo's and stuff. I can hear the voice in my head pretty clearly, but I don't know what it would correspond to in English.

Which page is that? Maybe judging solely by how they conjugate their verbs isn't entirely accurate, but Kosuzu isn't particularly polite around Mamizou. I mean, she thanks her properly, but mostly it seems casual. She responds to being asked if she can read English with まあね, which to me sounds like a pretty casual answer, almost a dismissal. As if the answer isn't too important to her.

On Mamizou's side, I have no idea how polite じゃ is supposed to be, but since it sounds a lot like だ I'm assuming it's around there. Incidentally, jaga and jarou always amuse me every time they come up.

Guess a Touhou character's always going to speak like a Touhou character, eh.

Sorry about that, that page probably doesn't exist. I was just speaking from memory. I guess the page where Kosuzu says "well, yeah" just made me notice how slightly weird it seems and then made me notice it on Mamizou, too, but later.

Mami with Ami's voice. I can live with that. If it's accurate, it gives me a much better sense of how she speaks.

I mean I think I started it for the PMISS random village friends but Faw was the one who started it for the three fangirls in HM.

I don't think I started it, I think I just offered different names and characterization prompts derived from them.

[up] Indeed, yes. Someone else was first to come up with three random names for them, then you offered your three more thoughtful ones, and we chose those. Momo and Friends. I'd really like more of them. Momo's super cute.

But yeah, sorry, Bocaj wink I did imply you were a Thread Meme Generator there.

...because it's true. I was just so surprised at the Eye-Having Barmaid and thought there might be potential there for a Thread Injoke (we can call it that, if "Meme" sounds too derogatory)

I have a bar running OC. Her tallness is maximum.

[down] This is also true.

Don't really know what a good name for a gensokyo villager barmaid would be. How do you convey "most respected and necessary person in town" in one short name?

Question: is the river that runs through the Genbu Ravine called the Genbu River? And is it the same river that makes the Waterfall of Nine Heavens?

EDIT: River name corrected as per [down].

Waterfall of Nine Heavens

No idea if it's the same river, though I'd say Genbu Ravine not showing up in MoF argues otherwise. I don't believe any rivers other than the Sanzu are named, though you might want to check that chapter of WaHH with the manzairaku.

That I'll do. Since it's the ravine where the kappa live and you encounter Nitori on your way to the waterfall, it might be. I suppose it's a minor detail, but thanks.
