Both blocky and handwritten? You might look into fonts that people make for comic book dialog.
EDIT: Free fonts.

That's a helpful resource that I might use later, but I need more blocky. Like, way blocky. Oh wait, that's because you linked the dialog section. The SFX section is more promising, but still not blocky enough...
I wonder if this is a flaw with roman letters?
Put simply, I fancy myself as a story-teller. I love to see people laugh at, cry at, bite their nails in suspense at, and think about my stories.
But I tried to take your advice and tried to put this idea to paper and I have to say: this idea is much more ridiculous sounding when put on paper than when in my head, especially since Modern!Gensokyo has real-world cars (mainly because I'm a car nut and want to give every 2hu a car from the real world).
Speaking of that, I haven't even given any more than 10% of the cast cars yet, for that matter! Everyone has one main car they race in and Reimu and Marisa change as they go up the stages; Reimu reps Japanese cars all the way through while Marisa reps American cars (and mostly muscle cars at that). I thought about having Rin (Satsuki not Kaenbyou) as a third protag to rep European cars as well.
Each 2hu's car corresponds to her personality and theme. For instance, Remilia's a rich European vampire and Stage 6, so she drives a Lamborghini Aventador LP-700 4◊. Utsuho and Suika, on the other hand, are Stage 6 too, but the former's imposing stature and the latter's size manipulation powers means they drive massive rally raid trucks: a Ford F150 SVT Raptor for the former and a Hummer H1 Alpha◊ for the latter. On the other hand, we have someone like Kyouko; since her entire species is about being loud as hell, she drives a muscle car, since they're all about being loud too (being a Stage 2, however, she's got merely a 1965 Mustang Fastback◊). Probably the easiest character to assign a car for was Orin, since, by sheer luck, Dodge happens to make a variant of the Challenger called the Challenger SRT Hellcat. And it's in the perfect power bracket for Stage 5 too.
Also, the races in this fic are done through these things called "Track Cards" which are basically Spell Cards except they contain a series of checkpoints outlining a course, not a bullet pattern. They even have to be declared, and are named like Spell Cards as well; one example is a track going around the SDM and the Misty Lake before returning called "Scarlet Sign 'Fated Mansion Loop'".
Aaaaaand I'll stop this post for now before I ramble too much on things no one but me cares about.

Varśnāmi, nūdhrēmnāyīm eyī —"With the pen, I reach satisfaction"This obsession with both cars and male OCs strikes me as oddly familiar. I don't wish to invoke the curse, but it's suspicious.
I'm not "obsessed" with male OC's. I made like...7 and pretty much stopped there. I've even made a few female ones. I don't even ship all but one of them with a 2hu, and two I ship together.

Varśnāmi, nūdhrēmnāyīm eyī —"With the pen, I reach satisfaction"Just noting an interesting juxtaposition.
I feel "obsession" is kind of a rude word to use, by the way. If I called everyone in this thread "obsessed with Touhou" I'm pretty sure I'd tick off a few posters in here.
Varśnāmi, nūdhrēmnāyīm eyī —"With the pen, I reach satisfaction"If you called me obsessed with Touhoumon and translation I don't think I'd mind. It's just my posting pattern.
And if you call me obsessed with Cosmic Mind and Lost Emotion, then I wouldn't mind either.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)I used to be obsessed with Touhou but the third restraining order finally learned me.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, I'm certainly obsessed with Touhou , and I have no problem saying so*
(*Well, in this thread, at least ^^ Real Life, bit different story.)

"Mystia is a former German nun“ -Clarste //// "[...]collectively, we have the power to destroy the Aki sandwich" -Clarste...Maybe I just the view the word differently.
In any case, have a cute Miko in black.
Varśnāmi, nūdhrēmnāyīm eyī —"With the pen, I reach satisfaction"Revenge of the keyhole shirts.
I have come to the conclusion that font designers have very different goals than I do. I want it to be a voice, whereas most of the free ones are... pictures I guess? Readability drops off quickly once you get into stylized territory, and I get the feeling that they don't even care, since reading text is apparently not the point of fonts. Which makes me wonder what the point even is, but that's font people for you, I guess. Yes, I have become bitter in my search.
It is my firm belief that no one deserves to have fin ears. Or wing ears. Those things bug me.
They would spoil aquadynamism.
As would clothes, hair, and shoulders.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers@Frostav This is just my observation, but you do tend to give a lot of detailed explanation regarding your ideas. Including the reasonings and justifications. That easily gives the impression of 'obsession'.
Maybe just think of them as fins that happen to be on her head while her real ear is hidden by her hair.
Homestuck similarly has fin ears on its aquatic trolls which are supposedly gills.
Maybe those are waggysaggy gills. I mean, she probably wouldn't keep her gills on her torso region covered by fancy clothes. That would be like wearing a pretty tight scarf probably?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe actual mermaid problem is how the hell they breathe.
Heart of StoneThey have air sacs instead of lungs, duh.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)With a great amount of difficulty.
I must deduce that they are magic.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDoujinshi are still a thing that're happening. We have MariAli offspring and weird subterranean shit
Same here. Actually, even Helvetica kind of bugs me. This puts me at a disadvantage in this realm though.
Comic Sans isn't remotely blocky.
