Unless the people directly involved have said something, I'd take all this with a grain of salt— the internet is not known for accurate reporting
I've added a link.
The Con of course, has noticeable problems just from a glance at their home page. There're presumably not enough Touhou creators in America who would come to South California, so they invited a lot of unrelated cosplayers and such.
EDIT: They apologized.

Stop atrican from crawling out of the dumpster! Touhou status updatesAnyway, never heard of this con until just now.
i heard about it on tumblr from an artist i follow but other than that nothing
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaAlso, it's hard to get to Southern California because we haven't even started building the high speed rail yet.
I miss my local con and wish I knew Touhou back then. Wonder how many cosplayers were there that I never recognized.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Wow, that's a weird story with that Western Touhou Con. That... is not a super good start for what sounds on paper like a good idea. Although... now that I say this, there probably is no way to make a Touhou Con really work outside of Japan. While there may be several Western Touhou fans, they're just spread out over a muuuuch larger area, and therefore would have to travel faaaaar further for such a con. The usual issue of small, crowded Japan, and the differences with the rest of the world. Have often heard about this in regards to video games/consoles.
@Liver: the liver was also associated with courage and bravery in the West in Shakespearean times. Mac Beth insults a servant as "lily-livered", meaning cowardly.
So, those Pony crossover things were OK. I liked the Twilight/Patchy one, that was very much in character ^^. Also loved the implication from the Dashie/Aya one, that Touhou characters can only dodge stuff in two dimensions , quite amusing.
EDIT: Hahaha, speaking of amusing, I just have to share this amazing quote from the blog that was shared here a while ago, regarding first experiences with PCB:

Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Minty green.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI always thought she would be a Raspberry, because she's so sour.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)^ I would have figured Lime.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."But a lime is green, Reimu is red, like a raspberry.
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)But a lime is just as sour as she is.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Not like red and sour is mutually exclusive. Gooseberries, currants...

Cranberries. They are red and bitter and their name evokes crankiness.
Heart of StoneMade some good music, though.
Check out my fanfiction!Personally, I think even strawberries are too sour.
Berries sound awfully expensive for someone like Reimu. Pretty sure any Reimu Jelly is gonna be made of dirt. Is dirt Jelly a thing? Eh, she'd try to convince you it was, probably.
Unless its made of Reimu, in which case it'd probably taste like whatever people taste like note . You'd probably have to grind her up pretty well to make the bones match the consistency of Jelly. I guess if you just stripped the meat off her bones before making it jelly you'd probably be alright. But then you're missing out on the brains and marrow. Hm.
Unfortunately, I have little to no experience turning people into jelly, so I'm mostly just guessing. Of course, if it's being served to youkai, that's a whole 'nother mess, since they might -like- the bones. Not to mention it's going to be like The #1 selling item from the Hakurei Shrine ever, and supplies are going to be so limited a riot could start.

I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.Oh, I know what Reimu jelly is. It's that areospace barrier cream I mentioned a year or two ago, under a more marketable name.
Or a derivative formula, she markets it to the village and they inadvertently help her maintain the border.

"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Gelatin is made from bones. That's... that's just what it is.
More typically ligaments/tendons and other connective tissue, I thought? Well, whatever the exact case, the point is that some processing would be required to make proper Reimu Jelly.
And I suppose for some reason she might not want to be made into a jelly for convenient home consumption, which could complicate processing. I'm not gonna be the one to ask.
I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.Made from collagen, yes

Seems an invited guest's private hotel room was used for a drinking party. In true Touhou manner.
