I don't know how Aya combines yellow journalism and muckraking, but she somehow does. I'd be impressed if I weren't so busy being disgusted.

The key to not being embarassed by a satori seeing you naked through your minds eye is to realize that she's seen better and she's just not very impressed at all by you.

Oh and that smart remark that was springing to your lips, yeah, she has the appropriate crushing counter retort waiting.

This would make you feel -less- embarrassed? huh. I guess embarrassment and self-esteem aren't directly connected, now that I think about it.

Also, I just thought of another reason Satori is hated. Never goes to drinking parties, and it's now canon that that's terrible manners. Of course, if she did go, she would probably be even more shameless about shouting your drunken thoughts at the top of her lungs. Especially since they're way more exciting than sober thoughts.

The key to avoiding satori embarrassment is to treat your nudity as a completely inconsequential affair.

The great irony of course is that she probably gets more kicks out of your embarrassed reaction than out of seeing you naked.

Also, I'm still not sure how the heck she gets that outfit on over her eye. Magic is clearly involved in her day to day life.

So, thinking a bit more on her new profile, and I don't remember where I was getting that she's particularly happy being alone/doesn't get lonely. Maybe the line: "There are no visitors to Chireiden; she's made sure of that." I'm reading it in a passive sort of voice: There aren't any visitors merely because she lives there, but when I read it yesterday I was getting a more active voice from it ("There aren't any visitors because she chases any potential ones away actively").

Of course the pets keep her company, but I wonder if -she- longs for conversation as much as the evil spirits do, and just can't work on the word level. Which would kind of make her just as alone as Koishi, because now there are no other satori to converse with, but unlike Koishi, she can fully appreciate the loneliness, and still has to put up with the hate. Like being a middle-easterner living alone in America during the terrorism scare, and not knowing English. Wow, that's really depressing. Okay, that interpretation gets packed away now, I'm done with it.

Also, Akyuu's statement that the Komeiji sisters (and pets) are the only inhabitants suggests that the other satori either hid somewhere else or aren't around anymore. Akyuu calls the satori a group of youkai. Two is hardly a group, and she doesn't seem to consider Koishi one... so one satori does not a group make.

I got the impression that Satori doesn't care for other people. Someone, Hylarn I think, mentioned it being similar to schizoid personality disorder.

Probably she doesn't like people and their nasty nasty thoughts, along the lines of 'If this satori won't go away I shall punch her in the face.'

She likes her pets, though. And they love her too. With all their hearts.

Or they left it after being rejected in the underground society. Both possibilities, I suppopse. We don't really have a timeframe for those events, but I suspect the Hakurei barrier wasn't up, but Yukari's probably was.

I wonder what they'd think of Koishi now, if they met her? A reject among rejects among rejects or some sort of messiah who found the perfect solution?

Probably she doesn't like people and their nasty nasty thoughts, along the lines of 'If this satori won't go away I shall punch her in the face.'

Yeah, this is basically what I think happened. Better lonely than bullied daily, she probably figured. And then she made friends with the pets who made the lonely not really lonely at all.

Hina funfact: She's not actually a goddess; in that she doesn't exist based on faith. She exists because of the misfortune she absorbs, so she's more youkai than god.

I'm actually glad that my headcanon about Hina match almost perfectly to her profile, except for the youkai-god thing.

Sliding scale of youkai vs. god.

Yeah, Satori just doesn't want to bother with people anymore because most of them are lame anyway.

As for Akyuu, you have to consider her position. She's a human, and youkai are the humans' natural predators. That, and it's her job to write about these creatures from that human perspective, from a distance. You can't expect her to empathize with them.

[up][up] I believe that the Mishaguji are a group of curse gods so, um, yeah, kinky.

[up] The other part of sympathizing with her is that she's a little girl and can't be expected to get face time with these youkai and has to rely on rumors and such.

True enough, Faw.

The line that really made me think of her as having a more personal dislike of the satori is the one along the lines of "Don't accidentally fix Koishi, because then there'll be another satori, which benefits nobody" But I suppose even that could be read as a sort of pity instead, given how much she's noted that they're super hated, and that presumably Koishi is included in that nobody. Though you'd think Satori would, though, so... I dunno.

I think it's entered my headcanon now that Akyuu had some bad times working for them during one of her reincarnation-breaks, which explains how she knows that, for instance, the floors of Chireiden are heated. (I mean, Marisa sure didn't walk through there.) Or anything about Koishi. I just get a more personal feeling than from her description of, say, Murasa's murdering frenzy.

[up] Indeed they are. There's so much innuendo involved in that pairing, it feels like it would come off as a badly written fanfic to even begin to describe it.

Been kinda lurking here again, and...

Yeah, Akyuu is horribly unreliable on a lot of things. It's kind of evident in a lot of articles, though some seem more accurate then others(Hina in relation to Murasa, for example).

Though really, I kind of find her unreliableness kind of endearing. Maybe it's because I imagine Akyuu wandering around with this inquisitive expression, kind of scared to approach certain people, so she goes to people she knows are safe to talk to for information, then scrapping together rumors and stuff to make these articles.

It seems Hina (and her kind?) feed off curses kinda similarly to how Kogasa feeds off surprise, or most youkai feed off of fear, the way I'm reading that summary.
