[up] Oh, I don't mind the occasional exaggerated expressions in Rookies. As long as the quality of the illustration makes up for it, it's an acceptable break from reality. And by golly, the folks at Studio Hitman really delivery with that quality.

I would kill to see that team work on a new manga.

Hmm... Favorite art styles in anime/manga... I'd go with either Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei or The World God Only Knows. The former looks somewhat simple actually, but it's beautiful in it's perceived simpleness, while the drawing style of the characters in the latter oozes some kind of lovable moe charm that I'm drawn to. In the same vein, Katanagari also has a simple charming style that is a joy to look at.

For styles that seems more like my perception of generic anime styles, I like School Rumble (Eri's eyes are just lovely!~), and for a somewhat generic yet still unique style I favour a manga called D-Frag! (especially the smiles, those lovely "u" smiles~).

As far as I'm concerned, SHAFT can take on the worst character designer in the world and still make a gorgeous show. It's all in the backgrounds.
