We can delay the Reisen writeup to spend some more time on Koishi, though.

I feel responsible for the hijack, so I'd be good with whatever you want to do.

There are two important things left for me to do:

1. Post this.◊

2. Try to resist making it into an avatar.

I can't support Koishi/Satori at all.

I just can't see it. Not to mention the squick factor.

Where do people get these crazy ideas? Why this desperate need to romantically pair up every single character?! The Touhou fandom really befuddles me sometimes.

You know, shipping exists in everything. People ship pokemon for god's sake. For clarification, the main pokemon wikipedia has entire sections dedicated to all the different ships and goes into college-level examinations into the merits and possibility/symbolism of each one.

As for my avatar, it was just too funny to resist. Iku's design, with the scarves and everything, incorporates a strong oarfish motif. Thus the fish head.

Well she is an oarfish youkai.

I think Koishi died before she could really get expanded on however.

Yeah, can we hold off on moving to Reisen? Give Koishi some more time?

Koishi is also interesting because she is one of the few extra bosses who doesn't have any real grudge against the main characters, or is too crazy to limit their power.

Its funny how Touhou can have these really dark storylines and maintain a certain light-heartedness throughout itself.

I think that people ship characters they like. With a fandom like Touhou, this collectively results in every single character being shipped. Give or take.

I don't know how much longer we're going to be on Koishi so I guess I'll compile the short list of the doujin works we've brought up. If anybody thinks of any more, I'll just repost or edit.

There's Littleshrimp's comic take on Koishi and her relationship with her sister.

KimikoMuffin wrote a short story titled "Philosophy of a Hated Person" featuring a danmaku fight between Flandre and Koishi. Koishi also shows up in another story he wrote and is a minor recurring character in Touhou Nekokayou.

A short, silent doujin where Koishi tries to get some flowers from Yuuka's garden.

The "At Chirei" doujin for download or colored on Danbooru.

RED-SIGHT's Pure Jade Anthocyanin. I know someone was asking about a more serious focus on Koishi and this doujin has it. I notice that danmaku is often treated as deadly projectiles in more serious works.

Why do I ship Satori/Koishi? Becaaauuuse... uh... I think they're cute together? ... I could rationalize it, but that's what it boils down to. Though they do pretty much only have each other to rely on...

Anyway, Ruki's gonna post the Reisen thing when he gets up, soooo... What else is there to talk about for Koishi?

I think a big problem is that while I think I have a good enough mental image of her personality to write her, I just couldn't really put it into words very well...

You know, I actually think that Koishi is part of Marisa's ever-expanding conquest harem.

Well, its not listed on the Touhou wiki shipping page so I guess not. What they have is:

Satori and Koishi with Rin and Utsuho　(most popular being Orin x Okuu, or "Orinkuu") The Komeiji sisters are shown to be very devoted to their pets, even when they get out of control sometimes. Canonically, Orin triggered the events of Subterranean Animism because of concern over her friend Okuu.

Satori Komeiji x Koishi Komeiji or "Sato Koi" The most popular pairing that feature either of these characters. In fact, it is pretty much the only mainstream pairing involving either of these characters.

Koishi x Flandre. Flandre and Koishi are both EX-bosses and both younger sisters of their loving older sisters (Remilia and Satori). A few fans suggest that Koishi is the one visiting Flandre to play with, or having a relationship since their older sisters are "busy" with their servants.

I guess its tough being an EX-Boss with not many confirmed social ties.

Edit: Actually, that second Littleshrimp comic probably represents the explanation closest to canon on how a Satori/Koishi ship would ever happen.

I never liked Koishi x Flandre, I don't know why exactly, possibly because I can't imagine Flandre having a romantic relationship with anyone. That and she seems too much like a child so it feels wrong somehow even though shes an old hag.

Its sad that there aren't a lot of specific age or ballpark ages for most of the characters aside from, "At lest xxx years."

Say Bocaj could you possibly share your #1 and #22 avatars with me?

Also, I'd go into another big rant about shipping Marisa with anybody, but I did that like two or three times already. ._.

anelaidlives: I feel the same way about Koishi/Flandre, and that's the Koishi ship that makes the most sense to me. @__@

Who would be in which roles? And playing what?

There's a few images, really. I'm seeing Satori with a guitar and leading vocals, Koishi with either a sax or string bass, and Orin and Okuu as keyboard and drums (respectively or otherwise, they both seem to fit to me).

This may have something to do with it.
