Some would sy that nuclear bombs were unworkable, or fission power plants, or breaking the sound barrier - if you roll the clock back several decades. What we view as impossible right now might be worth a few laughs by our descendents.

Yeah and they said that Edison's idea was insane for suggesting that he could build a telephone to talk to the dead. Oh wait. It _was_ insane.

Did Edison really attempt that?

Eh, by the time the US was investing in a nuclear bomb EVERYONE knew it as possible. (just not sure if it would be worth it)

Besides, weren't the biggest faction of people claiming the nuclear bomb was impossible Nazis who opposed Einstein's theories because he was Jewish?

That's the most uncalled-for-yet-relevant Godwin I've seen.

Ah yes. The flip side of what I posted - either it is impossible or very possible - and proven totally wrong later on.

Like, Luminiferous Aether, lol. Makes for some good steampunk stories, though.

It's hard to be both uncalled for and relevant and on top of that a Godwin.

No, you'll find that was not a Godwin at all but just somebody putting forth a point.

It amuses me that he called the actual possible technologies "Unworkable" while advocating science fiction.

FYI, Masonicon has been banned for trolling. So I'm going to lock this thread as it appears to have no purpose aside from calling him a loony.
