Wasn't Jolee a Grey Jedi? I rather liked that idea.

Jolee was the only Kot OR party member that was all that interesting (HK included, he's way too 1d)

He wasn't *really* grey. He was just not your stereotypical dogmatic Jedi Master. His only disagreement with Jedi doctrine was on the issue of positive emotions and their place.

So here's that Let's Play I was talking about earlier.

http://chipandironicus.com/games/50cent/1hd.html

I can understand thinking the game was dumb or juvenile (Although I don't see how it's any moreso than some other AAA shooters), but am I the only one here who hears 2 guys hardly restraining themselves from yelling "HAHAHAH LOOK AT THE NEGROES GUYS LOL THEY'RE SO FUNNY WITH THEIR EBONICS AND THEIR "CHAINS"

The existence of things like this shows that we need minority characters that aren't just circus animals for snarky white kids to point and laugh at.

Without watching the LP (it's quite late and I'm tired), is it possible these guys are parodying the culture of modern gangster rap itself rather than the black community as a whole?

Because frankly, I don't see a whole lot wrong with mocking a subculture that proposes wearing a golden grill on one's teeth and being misogynistic makes one "cool". Satire is perfectly acceptable after all, and I'd be just as comfortable mocking the ludicrous haircuts and "Fight society!" attitude in punk or indeed the hipster subculture. Doesn't mean I hate the people.

Having seen about half of the entire LP, CC and GI were pretty much just pointing out the ludicrous situation of a washed-up gangsta rapper and his posse tearing apart a war-torn country for a jewel-encrusted skull. And DJ Whoo Kid's annoying voice. And the presence of a curse button. And how the programmers didn't bother to animate 50's face during the instant-kill scenes so he resembles a robotic killing machine, giving credence to that WMG entry about Mr. Jackson being a Terminator. And it's not as though they hate hip-hop; they did do some research into G-Unit for the Let's Play and there's also a Retsuflash the duo did in which the only good thing Chip could say about it was the stolen DMX song. I'm not naive enough to think they're huge fans of the genre, but hip-hop in general does not offend them.

However, I will concede that while I can vouch for the Let's Players in question, I cannot not say the same for every member in their audience. Given Something Awful's sense of humor and demographic, there definitely are goons who'll watch that to satiate their bigotry. How many are inclined to do so, I can't say. It's hopefully just a small minority. Then again, I'm basing this solely off the fact that 4chan spun off from SA, so perhaps it's an unfair assessment, given SA's stance against bigotry. On the other hand, it's the internet.

Besides, I find the image of a rich American pillaging a fractured nation and killing enough brown people to fill the frickin' Astrodome a bit more disturbing than making fun of a rapper that should have kept his promise and retired when Kanye murdered him in terms of sales back in 2007.

Blood on the Sand is hardly the only dumb, profane, over the top shooter. Look at this LP for Mercenaries 2, a game which could match Blood on the Sand blow for blow in a dumb action contest.

Notice how they don't spend the entire video laughing at the main character. Despite the fact that the main character looks like he has FAS, and talks with such a terrible accent he sounds like a deaf man with a lisp. In fact, this dumb, profane action game wherein a rich guy murders enough poor brown people to fill the Astrodome doesn't seem to draw much laughter at all.
