Okay, so I've started writing this new story set in my worldbuilding project, Aut Neve, and I've got the basic plot and characters all figured out and planned, so I just need to, ya know, start writing it, which I have.

Except, something occured to me: a lot of people who're rather close to the main character die prior to the beginning, and I was thinking of having it that as the story unfolds, he goes through the different stages of the Kubler Ross scale. So, in order...

  • Denial: Starts off the story in denial, quizzical and not quite able to comprehend the enormity of what's just happened.
  • Aggression: When it finally does sink in, he starts becomign highly irritable and spiteful, and it nearly results in one of his companions getting killed because of it, which forces him into teh next stage...
  • Bargaining: He starts to realise just how important life is, but becomes almost obsessive and irrational about it, becoming paranoid that him & his friends might just drop dead at any moment. Several more failures on his part and some more time passing, results in...
  • Depression: Because now he sees himself as worthless and a failure. It takes some reassurance from his friends and a cunning scheme from the villain to bring him back to his senses, ultimately leading to...
  • Acceptance: The story ending on a happy note as the villain is foiled and everyone lives 'sort of happily ever after'...

Uh, is this a good idea, or...? Ya see, I've never really felt really deep sadness before, so I needed something to base his reactions on.
