[up]Damn, that was quick. What are you, some kind of ninja or something?

By the way, here is a replay from the day before. I was so mad...we need a rageface emote, but I suppose this is good enough.

Why isn't it downloading? All it runs me to is a page with the bitstream.

Worked fine for me. Cranberry Trap looked like it was going to get sour near the end. I just have to say, OWWWWWWWWW! at the very end. I've had quite a few occasions where I die just as the final spellcard ends (see my very first clear of Mo F EX), but I'm usually lucky enough to have a life in reserve. That really stings just watching it.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone else use any of the texture patches for Eo SD? Not necessarily the hitbox patch, but any of the ones designed to make the game look better.

I have two copies of the game. One without any of that crap and one with.

I've beaten both in both forms. (Though my Flandre clear was with the stuff.)

[up][up][up] That's because they're setting the Content-Type wrong. They're telling your browser it's a plain text document when they should be saying it's something like "application/octect-stream". Firefox treats it as text and tries to display it, while IE guesses that it's not really text and asks you to download it. Just right-click and save as to download it and it'll work fine.

[up][up] I don't have any of the graphics patches for Eo SD, just the original game. That tends to make replays done with the hitbox patch tend to stand out whenever I watch them. I see the player easily navigating through tiny gaps I still don't trust myself to attempt, then dieing/bombing though easier parts.

[up][up][up]I was quite upset over that, to say the least.

No hitbox patches for me, and no V-Sync either—I guess where my hitbox is, and make my dodges 0.1 seconds early, like a REAL MAN!

...Actually, I couldn't get V-Sync to work, and this is the first I've heard of a hitbox patch.

The amount of work it takes to beat MoF on Lunatic was enough to make me sick of Touhou. I didn't play at all for a week or two, then got Shoot the Bullet today hoping to find something better.

Wow, that's much more fun. I got enough into it to clear the first five levels already. I haven't really gotten used to the controls yet, shift and z each doing two things with x left unused, or the three speeds: uncontrollably fast, fast, and barely moving.

4-4 took more tries than the entire rest of the game so far. I tried to do it staying inside the lines Reisen shoots. I got up to the last picture a few times before realizing this had to be way too hard for just the 4th level. Then it clicked the way Reisen's bullets usually work and I figured out the correct way to do it, by actually dodging the whole stream.

Double Spoiler adds a function for "X". It flips the viewfinder between vertical and horizontal. Something I would very much have liked for some of the more difficult scenes in StB.

How do you feel about Medicine's poison fog? Awful, isn't it? You couldn't even clear it in PoFV

Not really. Medicine was the easiest boss on level 4. I got 4-7 on my second try. 4-5, with the poison slowing you down, was unexpected though. There's not of stuff in Touhou that messes with your movement.

you know, I never thought anything could make me yearn for Mountain of Faith's and Subterranean Animism's way of stocking bombs, but trying to do Ten Desires's Extra mode makes me realize just how much of a blessing in disguise it was to have Power not get deducted when you die.

Also, I hate Nue as the EX Midboss. Danmaku In Unknown Orbit and Cranberry Trap Youkai Orb With Unknown Mechanics are hard enough, but I can't manage to capture Skyfish With Unknown Shape.

Mamizou herself is quite the best, too. Primate Transformation and Wild Scroll are some of the toughest that I've reached so far. And I don't remember if I have the version of the game that fixed the "crash after survival card" bug.

[up] Check the title screen. If it says "ver 1.00c" under the title logo, you're good to go. If not, go to ZUN's site and download the patch.

I remember the first time I encountered that bug. It was before the patch was out, and I think I had captured it by some crazy fluke combined with the fact that I was out of bombs. Much raging occurred afterwards. If I'd known about the bug, I would've eaten a bullet on purpose to restock on bombs and avoid the crash.

I'm not a big fan of TD's stinginess on resources, especially in the Extra Stage. I have this whole strategy planned out and I only end up with 3 to 4 lives and 2 to 3 bombs before Mamizou. I realize that SA won't even give you an Extend until after Koishi's first spellcard at the absolute earliest, but at least there you have plenty of bombs.

I don't find Nue too awful, though the fireballs in her first spellcard have really weird movements and I've resorted to bombing her second. Her last one isn't too bad though.

I'm sure you meant "unknown" movements. :P

Do we have any info on whatever the next game is going to be? I wouldn't mind another fighting game. There are so many characters I'd love to see.

Its going to be called Hopeless Masquerade. The characters for Shinki are in the title but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

O-ho.

Full disclosure is that I saw Ask Reisen today, and one of the questions mentioned 13.5

I decided to ask here to see whether that was an actual thing or not.

Do you think they'll manage to have Kaguya and Mokou in the game this time?

It being a fighting game was a total shot in the dark, though. Whee!
