Managed to fuse some heavyweights like Satan, Nergal, Zaou Gongen, and Amaterasu. Feels good, and it's still absurdly easy to put Victory Cry on nearly anything and everything.

Also, 3DS Soul Hackers.

[up][up]So excited!!! Please localize it Atlus. Localize that and Etrian Odyssey IV and I think I'll finally get over the lack of Blaze Union and Gloria Union.

augh...

the mission to unseal the dragon stream...

for fucks sake

its a horrid mission and the developers should be burned in hell for designing it. i struggle for 30 minutes to get to the 3rd point JUST for the fucking cheap mothman with absurd speed and move range to finish off my main character just a square away from the fucking goal. then 15 more minutes later just as im about to get there with daichi, joe (stationed near the beginning because the previous time i went through this fight i could have sworn the 3rd seal was right there), in a fight by all rights he should have steamrolled through, gets utterly decimated through sheer bad luck and it becomes clear this fight isnt even possible anymore. to add insult to fucking injury daichi's turn comes around, and i made sure to position him close enough to the 3rd seal to get there in one more move, but far enough away to avoid getting attacked by one of the apparantly infinite, irritating fucking reinforcements that come every fucking turn, but when his turn finally fucking comes, since it now takes around 5 minutes now because of all the fucking reinforcements...guess what? evil fucking bind

i hate this game. so, so fucking much. given me a fucking migraine n a half. i need to lie down...

Since this is the 3DS and not the PSP like the first Devil Summoner was, Atlus can't use the "Sony axed it because it didn't change enough crap" thing they used for not localizing Devil Summoner. (If that is true, I have to say, what the hell? Sony of Japan was fine with it, but Sony of America didn't want a straight port?)

I think it helps that aside from I think two returning characters (Rei Reiho I think and of course Victor), Soul Hackers is completely unrelated to Devil Summoner.

I do think they will localize it. Maybe.

Sony of America is just really picky. I think they should waive the lack of new content thing if the game was never released in North America in the first place. Technically, to the North American audience, it's all new content.

There was another reason I had heard actually. Basically Devil Summoner on the PSP was essentially emulating a Sega Saturn using the games files, instead of the game having been especially for the system (which is why that port is also supposed to be pretty shoddy compared to other PSP ports). For Japan, all they had to do was take the final files and put it in the emulator and it was good to go, but apparently, there aren't any more Sega Saturn Devkits out there (even with Sega). So it would have been almost impossible to do any further alterations to the files, including localization changes.

You know, I heard of this, but I want to know if any of you can confirm. I heard that the Raidou games reference SMT. Not as in the Raidou from the future stuff, but I heard that Beliel and Neberios show up with Alice and call back to SMT. SMT post-Great Destruction is set in 203X. The Raidou games ate set in, what, the 1920s? Have the two been with Alice for over a hundred years? Or do they somehow "remember" the events of SMT, despite it not happening yet?

I think I heard the WMG that demons don't feel time linearly like humans do, but I am not sure if that makes any sense.

[up]Well, they do seem to exist outside of time and space...

@Tarsen:Huh. That's funny. I steamrolled through that mission.

In other news I finished Devil Survivor 2. I was a bit annoyed that some things weren't explained, but it was mostly good. Polaris was pretty idiotic though. Instead of erasing Al, it just chose to seal him in the ground.

Instakilling everything with Loki in NG+ is hilarious.

Geez, second time around, and Lilith is still a huge pain in the ass to fight. Especially now that a number of my demons reflect physical attacks, leading to many a game over thanks to the enemy humans suiciding.

[up][up]Fuse Lucifer. evil grin

I've started playing Devil Survivor: Overclocked. I absolutely love the original, so the original with VOICES is kind of cool. I like most of the casting choices, especially since I think that Aigis is playing Amane Kuzuryu (by the way, KUZURYU. How did I miss that on my DS playthroughs?) and I like the voice for the character. On the other hand, Naoya sounds wrong; I expected his voice to sound more like Izaya in Durarara. The sinister deep voice probably will grow on me, but...

End of my first DS 2 playthrough all I had enough points for after buying all of the lovely bonuses I wanted was a single demon to carry over. I chose Koumokuten. I chose... wisely. Using him (and the experience limiter removal option) I was able to walk through the game until the last two days, and that was only because there were a lot of force and physical resisting enemies. But then I had Lucifer and Asura, so it was academic at that point. wink

The story of Alice in Wonderland was written in the 1800s. So they've probably been with her at least 60 or so years by the time Raidou happens. Or time travel shenanigans. Who knows.

ok, im finally about to deal with mizar for the last time.

now, i wasnt exactly having a hard time- in fact this is probably the easiest septentrione besides dubhe.

unfortunately yumi suddenly took a hit from a motherfucking truck outta nowhere, daichi got beaten in his own game by an abaddon who also has Ys and was using it to get a 4 square attack range.

hero had the common decency to finish off a tentacle with joes help, and when joe fled like a hare from a fox leaving hero to fend for himself against the 4 enemies including the 2 mizar offspring, hero in a rather spectacular display, took out both mizars in one go with double up.

joe got his comeuppance when one of the faster groups of the 4 followed him instead of attacking hero, but he ultimately finished it off with no trouble.

problem is...joe cant fight abaddon. and even if he won he wont have enough juice to take out mizar tentacle and spawn...now what? seems like a lost cause.

I'd suggest ignoring the Abaddon and just try to take out Mizar if possible. The battle should automatically end then even if there are still demons on the field. Having a Genma with True Phantasm might help in keeping your characters together, if one's available.

[up][up][up]Alice is only half based on Alice in Wonderland. Her legend actually comes from a Scandanavian (I think) legend about the ghost of a girl who went insane from having too much magical power. She's used to frighten children.

The Alice in Wonderland references she makes are a very recent thing.

OmegaRadiance Since: Jun, 2011

I wouldn't say twelve years ago is recent. Since White Rabbit and Mad Hatter both showed up in the Devil Children games from that time.

Plus I already knew about that myth. they seem to combine the two in the series so I figured the Alice from the series must have been born in the 1800s. Since that's when Alice in Wonderland was written.

Well, I hate getting incomplete versions of games, so I think I'll get Strange Journey next. Is there anyone who wants to dissuade me? Or have I made a good choice?

???

you talking about desu 1?

it is a complete game.

overclocked is just an update. its not necessary, and yes it may suck that we cant play it, but that doesnt really change the fact the original game was complete.

I know, but Overclocked does add on extra story, voices, etc. For me, not having that extra content makes it incomplete.

If anything's incomplete it's Strange Journey. They never explain where Mastema is during most of the Law Route and brainwashed Jack's Squad never shows up after your choice in Grus. Plus what happens to the people who followed Zelenin and Jimenez and the two Red Sprite NP Cs Wolf and Blair.
