Chatterbox - Role Playing

Since there's one everywhere and I thought it would be nice for Role Players to have a place to discuss the games in general or just about anything else.

I am also for this thread but...wouldn't it have made more sense for it to appear in the discussion thread?

I thought of that but in the end I made it here mostly because this section seems like the main one, it has the most traffic and because I made the List in Signup but it was moved here.

Still I see your point, if people think it better we can ask a mod to move it.

I think I might be addicted to RPing. I am already in a ridiculous quantity of [=RPs =] and I'm still thinking about joining the Evangelion RP, the High Fantasy RP and Mythril Aces.

And I'm pretty addicted too, which is not a good thing when you have no time to spare T_T.

I have time to spare... or I'll crave some if I don't.

The worst part is the waiting... the waiting is horrible.

By the way about the Mythril Aces RP, what are you guys up to? Any kind of character you need or something?

We're just about to have a beach episode. Things have been slowing down so an active new player would be nice. And also, we need another girl for the Federation side.

I might have joined mythril aces by now had I known anything about it. Of course, I'm rather busy with the G Ming of my current rp.

^^ I'm researching the setting a little.

I'll have to come up with something for the mech... I tend to like fighters a little bit more.

This is a good place to say that We Are Our Avatars celebrated its One Year Anniversary six days ago. We've now got an FAQ/Introduction-thread in Sign-Ups for all of those who are wondering how to play.

I think I tried to play once. I quietly stood in the corner and lightened the mood with my fresh pine scent. Also, since nobody seems to pay much attention to the forum guide, I guess this is as good a time as any to run an idea by you. I'm probably going to sound like a narcissistic fool for wanting to GM two games, but how would everyone feel about me starting a Silent Hill RP?

There has been several isntances of people G Ming two or more games so no worries there.

It sounds like an itneresting game, but I don't know anything about the setting except HORROR!

Basically, the plot is that there is a semi-sentient town which lures people with unsound minds and troubled pasts into it, and sends them through a horrific journey through their own tormented psyche. Other than that, it doesn't follow a strict formula.

Interesting, but there's one big challenge with a Silent Hill RP. Most of the silent hill experience is how the main character, and by extension the player, is all alone in a town that doesn't particularily care for it. Sending a group in there might be a bit of a clash with the original flavor.

... Or, what if you did a story where we have multiple characters running around in the town, quite possibly with minor differences to reflect their own psyches and traumas (if you're going with the Silent Hill 2 route) Why are they there? Perhaps to kill each other? I dunno. it's a possible way to do it, but it'd probably be a pain in the ass to GM for such a game.

Yeah, I figured I'd have it go something like that. It could prove to be difficult, because the game would largely depend on me communicating with each individual player save for the few brief meetings they would have with each other. I'll probably keep planning it for a while, and if it still seems like a good idea in a week or two, I'll start it then. I just thought that it would be a good time to have an SH roleplay, since it's almost October.

vandro and I have been talking about starting yet another Holy Grail War.

Still we have disagreed on some points. vandro wants a traditional Holy Grail War while I was thinking about a more general Nasuverse RP involving the chase for a relic that is believed to be a Holy Grail. This would open a big can of worms though with the sheer size of the Nasuverse and all the powerful beings residing in it.

So anybody interested either on the traditional Holy Grail War or on the Nasuverse hunt?

There does feel like something missing from the RP subsection if there isn't a Grail War RP with half the players MIA going on. Either or for me, though personally I'd like the more general Nasuverse, just for change of pace. Some magus could always start a Grail War at some point, and our nakama could get involved.

Also, since for the grail war people have tendency to drop in and out, we could always have a Dark Sakura-like Eldritch Abomination gobbing up Servant and Master pairs.

If it does end up being a regular grail war, I'd like to use my Zhuge Liang-Caster that I didn't get to use last time.

Dark Sakura... that explains it all! That's where all my players end up!

What worries me most of a Nasu crossover type RP is the discrepancies in power levels between the different franchises.

We could make a "no canon characters can enter combat" rule, so that we could still feature characters from canon, but wouldn't have to worry about canon power levels. Player characters could just be moderated/balanced by the GM.

I prefer Nasuverse idea. Since all the holy grail R Ps crash.

I think it's the high number of players coupled with the lack of interaction between players since they are going at each other's throats by requirement.

I think that cause we have to wait for people to respond, we sometimes lose players and then come to a halt as result.
