Wow. For a second there I thought this was some kind of fake gameplay footage done as an art project or something.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I think the correct response to any paradoxical aspect of this magical device is either "It's Aperture, don't question it." or "It's just a game, you really should relax."
Some of those shots didn't look like subjective camera, but then, it's glitched so badly I wouldn't be surprised if those are just angles that only happen to seem completely divorced from Chell's perspective because there's not enough of the Chell at the center of the observable portalverse to have a frame of reference.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThis is why the game closes Portals on moving objects IIRC. God that's trippy. Almost like what being in a black hole must be like.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Objects moving perpendicular to the surface's axes. I find that important to specify because we know they don't close when a vertical surface is moving up or sideways (when you're cutting the neurotoxin).
The moving portal surfaces during that sequence are an aberration of verisimilitude that is difficult to reconcile with the rest of the game's rules. I just let it go rather than try to explain it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"From the neurotoxin scene, I was under the impression that they had simply changed the rule between Portal and Portal 2 (I know the first game closes portals when objects move).
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."No, you can still move objects with Portal surfaces on them and watch the portal evaporate in P2. They just conveniently ignored that rule for the sake of having a cool scene with moving portal-lasers cutting off the tubes.

Well, that's the thing about puzzle games: you either get it or you don't. And Portal puts a heck of a twist on it; you sort of have to think sideways.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.Watch a let's play then. The story is amazing, and this fandom isn't dead yet. not quite.
Make sure to watch one with no commentary, because Portal games have nearly non-stop hilarious dialogue and it would be a shame to have people talking over it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I played a large portion of the multiplayer campaign the first time through with a random partner who had open speakers and a hot mic, so every time GlaDOS spoke, she was echoed in the guy's voice chat so badly I couldn't understand her.
Fresh-eyed movie blogIt's worth noting that the Lego Dimensions Portal 2 level pack is a direct sequel to the plot of Portal 2. And the main campaign has a Portal level set between the first and second game. It's almost definitely not canon, though, considering it involves G La DOS meeting Batman and stuff.
If you're a Portal fan, it's definitely worth checking out, though. G La DOS even gets to sing a song during the credits.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Love portal, don't like cash cow doll games. What do
Just watch playthroughs of it on Youtube. That's what I'm doing. You'll want to make sure you find one with no obnoxious commentary, though.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I want to play so much of Lego Dimensions. I have so little money.
Fresh-eyed movie blogOkay, so I watched all the Lego Dimensions Portal-related cutscenes and gameplay on Youtube. It's pretty funny, but you can tell they weren't really trying with the story.
I think what really rubbed me the wrong way about it was how they portrayed Chell as kind of a jerk. First of all, giving Chell a clear personality in the first place is a mistake in my opinion. Yeah, we can infer that she doesn't like G La DOS and finds Wheatley annoying, but the actual Portal games leave enough room for the player to project their own feelings onto her. Do we really need scenes of Chell snarling at G La DOS or punching Wheatley? (Not that either thing is undeserved.) Why couldn't Chell just have a blank look on her face all the time like in the actual games?
Second of all, when you think about it, Chell basically just stormed Apeture Science completely unprovoked so she could hunt down G La DOS and kill her. By the end, G La DOS was pretty much begging with her, "Wait, wait, I let you leave! Why are you doing this?" It was actually kind of painful to watch. I mean, I guess Chell was doing it so nobody else ever had to do G La DOS's testing ever again, but it still makes Chell seem like way too much of a Blood Knight for my tastes.
Of course, I'm sure the Lego writers weren't thinking about that at all and were just writing in terms of, "Chell is a good guy, G La DOS is a bad guy, therefore Chell must kill G La DOS." Also, apparently Chell is suicidal since she ought to know replacing G La DOS with the Space Core will probably make the whole place explode even faster than when Wheatley was in charge.
Also, it was really weird seeing Portal being played from a third-person perspective.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Yes, we do! Those both sound hilarious and make me want to get the game.
Exaggerations of characters is part of the Lego humor, especially in ways that make them pointlessly aggressive. There's a scene in Lego Marvel Superheroes, for instance, where Spider-Man and Iron Man work together to dump Doom's vehicle out of an airlock, then high five and chestbump while Cap and the others just facepalm. It's just so petty and they're so proud of it that it's hilarious.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Well, oddly enough, Lego Portal isn't that comically exaggerated compared to the other Lego games. If Chell had killed G La DOS in a really over-the-top way, I'd probably be okay with it. I guess it's just hard to exaggerate Portal when the game itself is already really darn goofy. I mean, replacing G La DOS with the Space Core sounds like something that could actually happen in a real Portal game. Heck, Cave Johnson seemed pretty toned down compared to Portal 2.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Okay, I watched the playthrough of the Portal pack, and the main thing I didn't care for is that the portal gun breaks breakable stuff, making it an offensive weapon now. Well, that and Chell voluntarily coming back in for no reason other than I guess revenge on GlaDOS.
And since GlaDOS even chides Wheatley and Chell for doing the same thing over again, I would've liked a new end move to present itself.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI didn't care for it much either. I don't believe in Chell coming back to Aparture and I don't believe her working with Wheatley instead of dropping him down the deepest elevator she can find.
Can't drop him down an elevator shaft anymore, because he's got ANTIIIII-GRAVITY.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWith the Portals and moving surfaces: There's Gameplay and Story Segregation going on. According to the story, portals can be on moving surfaces, but according to gameplay they cannot (since that would cause glitches pretty easily).
I've actually tested this with cheats: During the Neurotoxin scene the portal is essentially scripted. The portal the laser is coming out of isn't a "real" portal, and if you no clip to see the entrance portal you placed for the laser, it's a "closed" portal (like what happens if you shoot one portal but not the other).
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"
WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE!?
