Time and he seems to have deteriorated as he aged.

This is why she aborted him rather than just killing him. If she killed him she would remember the good times and regret it. By aborting him she cleanses her mind completely.
She remembers she did this in the strip where he shows back up because his getting better reset the timestream.

I've been seeing the originial scene it's mocking in the first panel being mocked by other people.
It's Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare. The "press X to pay respects" is something that actually happens in there.
