I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed at least twice that they are working on a new MMO, and that it's a new IP. Or maybe they'll throw everyone for a loop and it's an MMO reboot of Blackthorne. Who can say, really?
A new IP is a new IP. I'm not sure why this needs any thought or speculation.
I think the point of contention is whether or not it is a new IP, which as far as I know, it's been absolutely confirmed to be. If that's the case, it doesn't need thought or speculation.
yes that was really my question, was there a hard confirmation on it being a new IP, because Blizzard hasn't done that in a long, long time. That's all.
'I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine'I'm looking forward to the Witch Doctor. For some reason, playing as one of those scary shamans in huge masks from Darkest Africa seems really cool.
It'll definitely be interesting to see how similar/different the class is from Necro. Right now, given the abilities shown, it looks very similar, but that could all change.
'I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine'The mysterious new MMO is also being designed upfront to be an alternative to World Of Warcraft; they're not gonna bother trying to make something that can compete with it. It will be interesting to say the least seeing how it takes shape in the coming years. We're not gonna see it for a long time though.
'I'll show him a martyr! I'm going to do die SO HARD'Yeah, no kidding. Blizzard takes years to release things it has officially announced, so who knows how long it'll take for something they are only alluding to.
'I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine'Best to start with a 10 year estimate, and even that might be too little.
...I just made myself feel old by realizing I'd be closing in on 40...

Jonah FalconI can't help but think of the leather scraps icon as being a hunk of Swiss cheese.
'I'll show him a martyr! I'm going to do die SO HARD'They just dropped a bunch of new info at Blizzcon.
The fifth class is the Demon Hunter. They can dual-wield crossbows and use shadow magic, traps and bow skills. So....Assassins with bows, basically? I'm okay with that, Assassins were awesome.
One person at the gameplay panel said they've already given up on class balance, because the skill runes system produces so many possible builds. Not sure if they were serious.
You no longer assign stat points at level up. Instead, every other level, you choose a new passive skill (called "Traits") to learn that buffs your character in some way.
There's a separate inventory for charms that grows as the game goes on.
Plus the PvP stuff, which I tuned out because I don't care about it.
I guess they're going for a "vampire hunter" Van Helsing kinda mood for this new class, although obviously the enemies are demons instead of vampires, but I can't help but think of Warcraft whenever I hear the class name.
Very obviously inspired by Sylvanas, not that that's a bad thing, of course.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!I cannot decide if I will play Witchdoctor or Demon Hunter.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....Also, the Blizzard leaked product slate has been semi-confirmed so, while we do not have a release date, chances are Blizzard wants to release it in Q4 2011.
The interesting thing I noticed...so Blizzard has three universes it works with Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. For years and years they have not deviated from those universes. Now, they are rumored to be working on a new MMO. If their track record speaks for itself, this would mean a new MMO in the same universe. They wouldn't make a new one for Warcraft and they just released a new Starcraft game...so could it be D3?
