That's not really how DLC is commonly defined, people don't complain about loads of DLC while counting the free patches. It's more or less universally known to mean "downloadable content that costs money".
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnSure, I guess, but the qualifier isn’t “FLC,” it’s just “free DLC.”
The letters in DLC stand for DownLoadable Content. Whether it’s free or paid, it’s still DLC.
I would say that ease of use is more important than acronym logic. You're certainly correct that "free DLC" makes more sense, but it's also more unwieldy so FLC is naturally going to win.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnExcept it doesn’t/hasn’t? No one uses that as an abbreviation.
It almost feels like you’re conflating “DLC” as an abbreviation with “FTP” (free to play). Which does exist and is regularly used, but means something very different.
Yeah, this discussion was never going anywhere.
Except it doesn’t/hasn’t? No one uses that as an abbreviation.
It's used extensively in the Total War community, just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean that it's not used.
Regardless, this conversation has become tiresome. You may hold whatever opinion you wish, I will continue to use the term "FLC".
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnI was gonna make an EVA joke but I misremembered the actual acronym. Oh well.
But speaking of which, any of the books in World of Darkness could fit in a plot about awekening and ancient weapon of destruction that just happens to look like a giant robot?
Heh, that's something you'd be far more likely to see in Mage the Ascension
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnAntediluvian come fairly close to the Angels in terms of inscrutability and power levels though, so could also have that element!
Yeah, but you only have something that resembles the plot of NEG if you make it cross-splat and include the Technocracy.
Which isn't really a good idea for a number of reasons.

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -Hylarn...Yeah reality warpers are.... bad news. Kill Sats as a special move plus all the other blatant CHEATING they do gets frustrating.
Indeed, the Camarilla's entire thing is that they control the world, which is impossible to take seriously when there is another shadowy world government who actually has kill sats and legions of cloned killers.
Not to mention all the other issues with mixing them, such as mutually exclusive metaphysics.
Vampires fit just fine in mage-games, mostly as mooks, but mages don't fit in Vampire games. At all.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnYeah, maybe only as a peripheral, Outside-Context Problem that you don't really deal with, it just "goes away".
Werewolf folds over well, the others I know are more of a mixed bag.
Really wanted to play it with a group one time, but it is an emotionally gruelling game if done right!
I wasn't planning on mixing them, BTW, just which one would be easier to set such a story in.
Well in Vampire, Antedeluvians would be your go to OHSHITITSAHORRIFYINGMONSTER.
That or a Tzmitsce construct.
Mage... yeah they can do the robots.
Certainly.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -Hylarnyeah, even from the mage Po V the only reason the Technocracy doesnt bug vampires is they tend to help keep the masquerade running so theyre less paperwork for the technocrats to ignore
The Technocracy just ignores and "explains" anything that totally destroys their worldview.
This isn't really the thread but that isn't quite accurate. If anyone's interested in taking the conversation to the appropriate thread, if it exists, I'd be happy to go there

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnInteresting that despite how flashy magic is there is yet to be a game based off Mage:The Awakening,I assume if Bloodlines 2 and Werewolf are successful it will inspire them to look at other properties
New theme music also a boxNeither Mage the Ascension nor Mage the Awakening has a game yet.
Hopefully, Bloodlines 2 does well and we can get the chance.
I really want to get my Progenitor on.

Freeloadable Content?
Even if it’s free, it’s still DLC.
It’s unfortunate that that rhymes, but I stand by it.
