Yes, but not one born out of emotion, rather one born out of naturally being...animalistic.

Of course, it is all theory though. Could be one way or the other. So idk. All theories work. Could be, or could be not, those are just my thoughts on it.

I'd suspect because while they may be nasty assholes at times, most of the hozen's antics come out of the same place as the Orks from war40k.

Its not that theyre balls of hatred and rage, its that they find being fulltime assholes and jerks /hilarious/ and are having /fun/

Lorewalker Cho actually has a story on the Hozen, Like all the other races. Apparently the fact of the matter, is that Hozen honestly don't care. They have incredibly short lifespans never developing beyond the mentality of teenagers. So they choose not to take things seriously. And appreciate littler things, Like Raid breweries for the best booze or throwing bananas at monks.

I swear Pandaria has one of the best Backstories I have read in a long long time.

They WOULD summon a huge "Sha of Fun", apparently. But when it comes to judging that morally, "Violence is fun" belongs to the realm of sociopathic comedy. Which is...funny, yes. But also morally reprehensible if you want to cast a judgment.

Also Tyrande has Snooki hair.

Maybe Blizzard was going for a Pallas Athena hairdo. But if they wanted to relate Tyrande to the Ancient Greek deity of Wisdom it would behoove them to not make the ten thousand year old priestess act like a 5 year old drunkard with a racist mother and father.

Between Toph Bei Fong and The Ancient Greek Goddess of Warfare, Wisdom and Patron of Athens, legacy of whom World Wonders have been risen, I am going to go with "Athena is way cool to even begin comparing", but hey. Opinions and stuff.

Also, I was leveling an alt, and I noticed so many references to common tropes. Lampshaded left and right. If I had half a mind I would have written them down. I know blizzard has decent, fun writers but they are given so little credence, so little time, so little relevance on the overall arch...

Like I mentioned before, one of the Garrison missions for example is named "Rocks Fall, everyone dies", but I have noticed more as I read more stuff when I leveled an alt.

Also, is it just me or is this 6.1 patch the one with the largest amount of typos ever?

World Of Warcraft just runs off the stuff and really it always has. They will consistently just bring tropes into play and have fun with them or shoot them out of the sky.

And the amount of references to other series is insane. I mean even the sword you get from the garrison questline is a reference to Kill La Kill of all things.

To me there is a point where a Shout-Out is "Haha! That was cool" and another where it is hamfisted for the desperate attempt at drawing attention.

Well, shoutouts in general have always been a blizzard thing but never directly into the plot itself removal of that is. World Of Warcraft's shoutouts are contained in quests and NPC names but rarely main story arc quests themselves, the only exception would be Harrison Jones Uldum questlines. They tend to be very creative with the references themselves, where they are placed, and what they are involved in. They tend to be quite fun IMO and are only a very small percentage of the overall quest or NPC count.

Many times the shoutouts take a life of their own though via the fanbase as well as they tend to be like me and just eat it up. Harrison Jones's first appearance was just a little escort quest in a troll ruin vs a snake god but the fan response just took off and blizz responded with making him the student of Brann and created the Uldum and Archeology questlines.

I do admit that Blizz did go a bit overboard with Cata's revamp but holy crap they had to do ~6000 quests + the 85 questlines.

Frankly, after this many years, any players who insist on holding Blizzard to some strict standard of tone and/or story consistency ought to know better.

[up][up]I understand it but for example, making Uldum nothing but a rehashed Indiana Jones reference really detracted from the egyptian theme and lore was definitely sacrificed in there for the sake of focusing on the reference.

Things like Hansgar and Franzok are ok, or Bronjam which was amazing are great, but when you grab an entire storyline and make it nothing but a reference, or when you see nothing but references and references and references and references and references? (The fifty layers of shadow joke is used three times throughout the Arakkoa questline, for example), it gets kinda tiring.

[up]You are correct, they have said they care more about the gameplay than the lore. It is just wishful thinking, yanno?

So I just managed to get K'ute from Raiding with Leashes III: Drinkin' From the Sunwell, I forgot that I could spend the gold left over on my previous servers for the pets.

God the guy is so awesome and the summoning animation is very shiny but it really sucks he cant battle, you figure a Naaru would be able to kick some serious ass. A shadow priest with him is just wrong though, he should transform into something that looks like Entropius.

[up][up] Nah the raiders and such fit perfectly with the Egypt theme since that is an element of the history as looters hit almost everything over the years and Indy is huge in popculture. The Indy questline was just one direction though the other was very much rooted in ancient Egypt theme and Arabian themes.

They basically took 3 common themes Arabian Nights, Ancient Egypt, Indiana Jones/Uncharted genre and built questlines and arcs for each. Culminating in a Raid, a Dungeon and a epic solo questline respectively.

Let's not forget that Blizzard's breakout game, Warcraft, came loaded with "immersion-breaking" easter eggs, and Warcraft 2 had even more. They have never made any sort of pretense of being serious.

Uh. People were wondering what the hell the Throne of the Four Winds had to do with anything for a long while, it was hard to establish that Al'akir was at the service of Ragnaros the Firelord until the Dungeon Journal confirmed it

And yes, they may not care too much about the lore but they care enough to make it, merch it, and sell it, don't they? Just not enough to keep consistent with it. And that is a dicothomy I simply point out. What else am I going to do if they do not care? Nothing. Game's still fun, even if the next expansion ends up being about 50 Shades of Grey/Twilight based storyline with musical input by Justin Bieber.

I have a suspicion that it was three different writers independently sneaking it in and not telling each other they already used that joke first.

People seriously did not connect Al'akir, his Djinns, and such to Arabian Nights? Ugh.

Yeah shadow Naaru look off base version looks awesome though

Not to Arabian Nights. To the overall plot of the story. No one knew Al'akir was on board with destroying the world.

Eh? It really wasn't need to know info, you found some friends in Uldum they were broiled in a civil war, you side with the side that helped you and he was the boss behind it all so you stop him.

Really the player has gone on raids for less than that, I mean look at Gruul.

[up] Agreed, them birds be kinky.
