I want to see the effect of the ideas they have on the community that plays a naturally rage inducing game.

Life is like AIDS, its sexually transmitted, has no cure and it is ultimately fatalI think I'll probably stick with League Of Legends, but let's see what'll come of this.
What caught my eye wasn't the sequel it was the fact that Valve acquired DOTA.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. The announcement sounded to me like big amount of hard to deliver promises Forcing DOTA community to be new player friendly ? Bots that will be able to work as player ?
What is your opinion about those points ,beacuse to me they seem strange at least .

So, is this gonna be freeware or something? From what they're saying it will be functionally identical to DOTA with a prettier engine, which makes me wonder why anyone would pay for it if they already have WC 3.
You've lost. You're the Bomb Squad after the bomb's gone off. I'm the blast ongoing.^ 2 words my friend: Steam Matchmaking
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans. If they can make it less goddamn complicated when crafting items, then maybe I'll try it.
I can only hope the game is free. Because nothing on heaven or earth would make me pay to deal with DOTA players. I've played one game of Starcraft2 DOTA and now I never need attempt to play again. It's not worth it. Nothing can possibly be worth it.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984If its new gamer friendly..the hardcore fanbase that is convinced Do TA 2 will kill League will hate DOTA 2
The number one reason they constantly threaten to leave League of legends for DOTA 2 is hating feeders, noobs, unskilled players in general, and anyone who wants to play casually.

One Dota variant that caters to the hardcore while the other caters to the casual sounds about right as far as a reasonable split up of the market goes.
My biggest concern is all the death spiral mechanics that are traditional to the Dota mini-genre - if they don't fix those, it will never be casual-friendly regardless of all else. New players need something like TF 2's criticals (as much as the 'pro' players for TF 2 hate the mechanic), ways to compete even when they start falling behind.
Crafting that didn't involve memorizing a ton of counterintuitive recipes would also be nice.

Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.technically, there are ways to counter a death spiral. Theyre just unlikely without team coordination.
Sup Gaben what's with the russian accent?
In all seriousness, the game is looking pretty good. Never played any MOBA games but if this community is like the tf2 community (which was actually quite nice and accepting when I first started playing last year) then it shouldn't be too tough to figure out without everyone raging right?
MOBA arent really hard to figure out. (the skill curve between newbie and expert can be ridiculous, though).the problem is they have a tendency to atttract a community of people so hardcore they make "Stop Having Fun" Guys types look downright nice.

DOTA 1 was one of the more complicated games I've ever played. Trying to start getting into that during its lifespan was like trying to perform precise dental surgery with a brick. Not only was each hero usually pretty complicated (ohhai invoker) but you were forced to memorize item recipes, deny creeps, last hit, know which items counter which, know which heroes counter which, and if you screw up once in the beginning it's likely you will feed very, very hard. Thankfully the coaching system and the improved matchmaking will help with this though. Valve is being smart with its focus on the community.
"Delenda est." "Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed." -Common Roman saying at the end of speeches.
True. But I meant more in the sense moba is a very easy game conceptually. It just has a ridiculous skill curve (outside Lo L )

A lot of games have huge skill curves, but for most of them, sucking and dying once doesn't make you even more likely to suck and die again ad infinitum (outside of temporary 'rez stat penalty' conditions that you can just outwait, anyway). Five minutes later, your entire team is screaming at you because you're feeding, and there's nothing you can do about it by then except quit the game and hope you figured out what mistake you made to avoid doing it next time. And often, that mistake is as simple as not having every hero's abilities memorized beforehand.
Not that death penalties don't have their place, but an inability to overcome them combined with the team-based gameplay of Dota is always going to be naturally rage-inducing for everyone involved.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.Yeah the community is the main reason I've been avoiding the MOBA games. I really hope Dota2 attracts enough people to outnumber the douchebags.
Yeah, those "Stop Having Fun" Guys are damn harsh. I remember someone yelling at me to "LERN 2 PLAY THE GAME" on a low-level, player-vs-CPU match in Lo L that I was playing to get a good grasp on the game.
Suffice to say that I haven't played it since.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...I find there arent a huge amount of those in Lo L....Unless you decide to play ranked.
Either way,. signed up for the DOTA 2 beta. wanna at least give it a fair shake.
Officially announced.
