The jump from the sassy cat Litten to the unstoppable balls of energy that its evos are will be entertaining.
Do you think Alolan Meowth will troll the Kanto one?
Wake me up at your own risk.Black: I can see how what you mentioned could still fit the overall dynamic between Lillie and Lusamine; and Gladion for that matter. It could just be that instead of running away, the child was just sent Off to Boarding School.

Dawwwww, poor Litten.◊ Next week's preview showed it facing off with an Alolan Persian (resulting in it getting pretty mangled). Seems clear this stray needs a good trainer to give it a forever home. :3
Sophocles episode was pretty bad, worst SM ep so far. Man, Sophocles is bound to be the most disliked character this saga, isn't he?
Well he didn't really have a good personality in the game, to me. Just sort of a recluse that only had a good relationship with the guy that ran the observatory.
Yea, Sophicles doesn't particularly stand out to me either and his personality is kind of obnoxious. Doesn't exactly make for a likable character.
EDIT: Though the fact that none of the girls were in the episode might've had something to do with it.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I liked him fine. Not really a standout, true, but he was perfectly likable. I don't think that anyone in the game was unlikable, really (villains are more Love to Hate than just plain hate).
Oh God! Natural light!I'm mostly hearing this episode was just kinda boring at the absolute worst; it's only really on /vp/ where the Sophicles hate is mostly prevalent...they seem to have a thing against Fat people it seems.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I haven't gotten to him in the game yet, but in terms of anime, I find him more fun and memorable than Kiawe. ... though I also haven't seen the episode yet. ... I guess if it's boring, that at least makes it a good thing to watch before going to sleep.
Kiawe hasn't gotten a focus episode yet, but he has that serious somewhat rivalish relationship with Ash in the first two eps that looks interesting. Best way to describe him is he seems like Piccolo from Dragonball Z and his relationship with Goku.
Also I'm surprised not a single one of the girls was in the episode. In all previous sagas when the female companion appeared, they were in every single episode of their saga up until the end. Only exception is Misty/Iris weren't in the very last episodes of their respective series. But this is an ep early in the saga where no female companion was in it.
I guess this makes me think the SM cast will be interchangeable this saga. Perhaps we'll only see a handful of them from time to time, and not in every episode like Ash's typical travel groups like every past arc.
I liked the episode, though I admit Sophicles was a bit underwhelming. It was a better limelight episode for Ash than him. Sophicles felt a bit arrogant and rivalistic previously so I thought there was more they could have done with him, though focusing on his redeeming qualities this time isn't a bad thing, I hope he gets a bit more personality analysis later on. I liked we did still get a brief butting of heads between him and Ash, not very long, but it's nice to remember Ash can lose his temper after a couple series of him being rather recessive and upbeat.
Togedemaru is confirmed female and really seems to like Pikachu. It begins....
Oh and Team Rocket are already working part time, nice touch.

Oh, so Toge isn't so much Pikachu's rival as tsundere for him? Oh my.
She's far less rivalistic to him this episode. In fact she outright glomps and nussles Pikachu like a crazy Genki Girl.
Pretty much. He's not a cute girl or the "GAR" rival-esque character, so by default yeah.
Ever wonder if Ash and co. decided to send TR flying while they do their motto?
Wake me up at your own risk.I think they did once during Hoenn or Sinnoh at the beginning of an episode, but I'm not positive.
Yeah, that definitely already happened way back in Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh in various episodes.
That said, yeah, this was definitely the weakest episode so far. There were some fun little moments like Rowlet having a photoshoot, but there was too much juvenile and predictable slapstick and not enough character. I thought Ash's incompetence at the start could at least tie into Sophocles' hypercompetence and add another level to their relationship where Sophocles can teach him not to be such a cartoonish dolt, but then all the predictable preschool-level humor just existed to send him grocery shopping. Cool.

So... I heard from a friend yesterday that Charizard's fight with Blaziken in the Johto League was even more of an Ass Pull than Blast Burn on a Water Type, and i want confirmation.
Apparently Charizard got a Burn condition from his fight with Blaziken, which is impossible for fire-types to get.
It wasn't that far fetched to me; Charizard did take more hits because Blaziken was faster, even if Charizard was likely stronger.
You're talking about a battle from over 14 years ago. The Charizard Vs. Blaziken Johto league matched aired way back in 2002. I don't think the writers cared as much about battle moves way back in 2002 in the early seasons then they did in the later ones.
Damn, now that makes me feel old. Thinking about episodes I remember watching on Saturday Mornings airing way back in 2002...goddamn this show has gone on way too long.
I remember watching that fight and then going "Nooooo!" when Ash lost XD
That's because you still believed he'd get his due.
Now you, like so many of us, know better.
One Strip! One Strip!Well it was only his second league loss back then, so it wasn't that big a deal. Plus back then the dub was like 30 episodes behind the Japanese version, so I already knew about the Hoenn episodes airing. I used to go on serebii and look at the episode pictures of the then upcoming Hoenn arc so I knew the anime was continuing.
Now after 6 league losses, yeah, NOW its gotten kinda sad and ridiculous. Now you know the writers are just going to continually have Ash lose until whatever the final saga of the anime is.
@precita: Unless Litten is female, I see Meowth's attention being diverted towards the Alolan Meowth/Persian.
