I lost a full enchanted diamond set back in 1.2.5 when something caused a tile update right as I was walking across some gravel in a cave. Said gravel was suspended over a pool of lava. . .

Gonna improve my Slime Spawning Chunk mini-farm. I'm switching to slab platforms and spacing them out to allow movement of Large slimes, and reworking the water conveyor belt. Still using a killing chamber instead of a drownbox or cactus ring, since I want the XP from the slimes for enchanting and I can make extra Looting weapons for farming the slimes.

[up][up][up][up] Solid state hard drive. I assume the launcher log would have helped though, though at that time I was very new to the game, and did not know about that feature.

[up][up][up] Never fun. Lava is still the worst way to die, and lose ground above it makes it that much worse.

Hey Guys! I've recently gotten my second wind (or more like 20th wind) for vanilla Minecraft and finally completed a lot of projects around my main base that I had left unfinished. So now I'm doing a mix of building various small themed houses scattered around the server and also exploring all of the new improvements since my absence.

So firstly, do any of you have recommendations for cool places/bases I should visit?

And secondly, I need a bunch of xp for enchanting/repairing so I was wondering what if there is any rule about mob farms, or if there are any currently running that I could use.

If at first you don’t succeed, call it version 1.0

it's surprising how difficult it is to find decent mods that updated to 1.8; I know there are lists and things like that but that's not really a solution

I thought they killed quivers.

Is that old or a mod?

But slot for a shield. That looks cool.

Ooooooh.

Quivers might be useful if they held more than 64 arrows. And shields definitely would be.

It looks like there's going to be several varieties of arrows, making quivers a necessity.

Because how else are you going to choose which kind of arrow you want to shoot?

What I don't get is how there are these two slots on the right, one with a quiver in it, and the other with arrows. Does it have to contain a quiver? What if I tried to put arrows in both slots?

Probably the slot only holds quivers, and it isn't auto-filled because you have to craft a quiver to, well, have a quiver.

...This is going to make the non-animal-murdering lifestyle even less convenient, isn't it?

I'm sure there's something else they can be made of.

Really, though, once you've got a farm and Armor better than Leather, there's not much use for most Animal Products.

Bread and ESPECIALLY Carrots are much, much more efficient at keeping you full than most mob-dropped foods, and Leather armor is pretty terrible.

I just want there to be a monster that drops Leather, one that drops Feathers, and one that drops Ink Sacs.

That's all I ask.

Zombies USED to drop feathers.

They don't, now, but still. And there is a mod that lets you turn rotten meat into leather by cooking it.

Ink's not that helpful anyway.

Yes vampires.

Yes velociraptors.

No dark poets until there are regular poets.

They would also sell books, feathers, ink sacs, and glass bottles.

I'm curious how shields will work. Will they work like armor? Are they linked to a key/button? Do they work better against certain types of attacks? Will they protect you from all sides or just the front? Do they have the wood->stone->iron->gold->diamond progression, the leather->iron->gold->chainmail->diamond progression, or their own line of progression? So many questions.
