Note that my comment was made without watching episode 2 and without really remembering how much stuff is covered in the material translated in the manga. So it doesn't necessarily mean anything about episode 3.

It's not really a conflict driven story, from what I've seen. Things are about to happen, but they get more or less resolved fairly quickly. Er, assuming that the manga wasn't skipping things.
Well, it's basically impossible for episode 3 not to have something happen.
Anyway, back to the original premise of the discussion, Kuroneko doesn't provide any actual conflict. It's just an emerging Vitriolic Best Buds (type 2).
Favorite show of the season right here. Thoughts on episode 2:
- I say, Kuroneko is basically a combination of Tachibana Kanade and Zange-chan. Go Hanazawa Kana!
- Ah, the usual references. Especially the Code Geass (possibly combined with a Nanoha reference) one.
- Speaking of Nanoha, I hear a Tamura Yukari in there.
- Nabatame Hitomi as Saori is awesome.
- Manami is very cute. Just saying.
- I still totally see myself in Kirino, except for the whole fashion sense thing.

My FF.net accountI was thinking "Totally Mapi" even before you changed your avatar.
Also my favorite show of the season thus far.
Ecstasy is Sustained IntensityIt kind of feels like a bit of what Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu should have been.
Also, it kind of claws at my eyes that Kirino is so Super Special (TM) it would have been far more interesting had she been just a "normally" smart/pretty/competent.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.I said almost exactly that back when the fall shows were still upcoming.
Though I'm thinking of it more as a cross between Suzumiya Haruhi and Genshiken these days.

Agreed, definitely. Season 2 of Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu just devolved into a romantic comedy, losing the unique premise.
My FF.net accountIt was pretty bad at its premise even from the beginning though.
I thought it was okay, but that's just me... *shrugs*
My FF.net accountShe wasn't really an otaku, she was just a girl who liked some anime. And then she was a rich girl so it became a comedy about a rich girl. Who is implausibly naive and knows nothing about her own hobby.
At least they got this one right with Kirino. I can totally empathize.
Also, I like how they kept the Suigintou jab at Kanade Zange Kuroneko.
Finally watched episode 2. It was excellent, as expected.
"Aniki"
Well, episode 3 was somewhat predictable but not really bad. It's clearly the end of volume 1, so I'm wondering where the plot can possibly go from here.
Yeah, episode 3 was okay. Neither great, nor terrible.
Ecstasy is Sustained IntensityOh my god.
I love Kyousuke. He is so ridiculously loyal to his sister even though she treated him like crap for basically forever that it's not only admirable but kind of hilarious.
Like, seriously, yelling at the top of his lungs and making himself look like a huge siscon perv in front of his dad just to prevent his sister's stuff from getting trashed? I LOVE THIS GUY.
On another note, Kuroneko's insults toward Kirino are like the funniest shit ever.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. The Kuroneko-Kirino dynamics are awesome.

Ecstasy is Sustained Intensity^^ Yeah, Kyousuke is pretty much the best older brother. Like, ever.
Well, I think part of it is that he doesn't really have a reputation to ruin.

There's some merit to that. The only friend he really has (besides his questionable friend-status with his sister) is Manami, and I have a feeling she'd think he was awesome no matter what the hell his reputation is.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.Kyousuke is Big Brother Instinct personified.
That said... I have to agree with the dad's final position.
It's one of the rules of childhood. Parents don't let little girls have R-18 games. It's part of the parental code or something.
Huh, the resolution was markedly different than the manga's. Wonder which is closer to the novel's.

Well, episode 2 is primarily about the resolution of the conflict set up by episode 1, so if you didn't count it then episode 2 won't change your mind. But again, episode 3 might based on both the atmosphere at the end of 2 and DYRE's comment.
