Thanks. She gives a smile in return.

Yamada holds the smile and his eyes on her for a moment before seeming to visibly redden as something vague passes through his head.

"Ah...any...anyway I was...going out..." he stammers before scratching the back of his head and trying to casually stand from his seat. He takes a moment to breath and "clear his throat" before he starts toward the door.

"Let me know before you go - I feel I'd regret not getting to see you off." As he leaves, Koneko steps in past him, looking after him with a curious tilt of her little head before turning to enter the building proper, making her way behind the counter as if she owned the place. She seems to be looking for something.

"Going out?" She blinks a couple times.

"Ah, yeah. I'll definitely tell you before I go!" She then notices Koneko go behind the counter and follows after her.

"Hey wait, what are you doing-"

When Mira comes around, she might notice a piece of dried venison hanging from Koneko's mouth.

"What do you mean?" asks the cat through her teeth and her claimed meal, "and what was with him? He looked red, is he sick or something?"

".. You kinda have to pay for that." She gestures to the meat.

"And, huh. He was red? I don't-..."

"..."

"O_O"

If ever there is a moment for Koneko to know when to flee, this is one of them. The moment Mira seems distracted (if she is at all), the cat-spirit will attempt to slink out the back door, just a few feet away.

"O_O"

Mira shakes her head and notices Koneko trying to get away.

"Hey, you're not off the hook!"

At Mira's voice Koneko bolts, but she doesn't seem to be scared by any stretch. In fact, the sound of laughter bubbles past her lips as she heads toward the fence in the back yard.

Mira bolts after her while hiking her kimono up a bit. Making sure no one's watching, she turns one of her tails into what looks to be a red scarf. She throws it, and it whips towards Koneko. It will wrap around her if it hits.

Koneko turns midstride to see the scarf incoming and has a sudden look of surprise on her face before, seemingly out of dumb luck, she catches on something and falls back, rolling twice as the scarf passes overhead and bonking her head on the fence in the process and leaving her dazed. In the process, her hand lands on something made of cloth, and she holds it in front of her, seemingly unable to decipher what it could possibly be. Looks to be a bag of some sort.

"._."

"Well then."

Mira dashes forward in an attempt to close the distance between them.

"Ow..wawa..." Koneko mutters. When Mira gets close enough, she dizzily holds the bag up for her. There is a light clinking from the inside.

Mira's ears twitch.

What was that noise?

She continues, probably close to her now.

Curious herself and slowly gaining her wits back, Koneko opens the bag and tips it over. A small brass key and a silver coin falls into her lap.

Tsurugi sighs sadly. ...If only you knew what was coming.

Near the conclusion of their meal, the youngest son—who couldn't be any older than 6—stood as the mother started to clear the table with the aid of the middle son. The father gets up, with a bit of effort as the pain of an old injury flares for a moment, followed by the older son.

They both head over to the memorial in the corner and sit before it, as they often did after dinner. And of course, wanting to be like the older men in the house, the youngest child would often eagerly follow suit, trying his best to emulate them.

The father gives the young one an affectionate pat on the head before he starts to pray, all three of them closing their eyes as the father recites. The young one, unable to help himself, opens his eyes as he often did, curiosity getting the better of him.

...

But this would be one time he wished he hadn't.

The young boy's attention is quickly drawn to the window. Outside, as far as he could see, blackness enveloped the skies of the village. He quickly approaches and looks outside to see what looks like the black and red flames ravaging the town as people flee through the streets.

Horrified, the child steps back. "Wh...What's happening...?"

Tarou, looking significantly better after two straight months of sex rest and good medical care, exits his home. He kooks around, taking in the sights he hasn't seen for a good while and heads off, in the direction of the tavern.

Kawari doesn't seem to have much of a reaction. Perhaps he's used to this sort of thing? Or maybe he's just good at hiding his emotions. He calmly moves to follow the boy.

Mira looks at Koneko's shoes or feet and yells: "What are those?"

Yamada, still a little red in the face but recovering, crosses Rentarou's path.

"Ah, you're looking much better."

Still rather dizzily, Koneko replies, "I dunno, I just found 'em."
