Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

Scornthecat — sounds like you are up against the one IP limit we've got in place because of vandals. I think you'll have to stick with the account you've got working.

I recently switched from using Google Chrome to Opera, and I lost my "Remember Me" status. As a result, I can't edit pages in Opera. I'd like the password for this account (Golden Sandslash 15) to be reset. (Note: I am sending this message from Chrome, if you were wondering how I got in.)

Regarding The Green Herring, that's a very old account with no active history. I went ahead and reset it but there is no way to verify ownership.

That's what I was afraid of. I've just shot an e-mail to the staff in order to work out the ownership issue, partly due to the "one IP address per account" limit; it also has my IP address in it as instructed.
