This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Hi, this is Jinxii!
I recently found out I got an editing ban? I'm a little confused as to why though, because I've only recieved about two messages saying I've gotten something messed up before. I checked the What To Do If You Are Suspended page, and I think I pulled up a few things, though I'm not sure what exactly got me suspended.
Conversation In The Main Page: I did get a notice saying my edit to the Pretty Cure A La Mode YMMV was wrong, and that is was more of a response than an example.
Word Cruft: I do have a bit of a tendency to use flowery language without realizing it.
Righting Great Wrongs: I'm extremely biased towards a few characters and used to consistantly update their pages, and I may have become blinded to canon by my bias, causing me to place tropes that are only implied or, at worst, not there at all.
I haven't used the forums until now, and don't really participate in discussions just because I'm shy. I'm also not sure how long the suspension has been in place, because I've gone back to mainly lurking because I'm not as extremely obsessed with a single media (I used to edit nearly every day on the Persona 5 pages during the height of my obsession) anymore.
If you could explain why I was suspended, I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Indentation and natter I can understand. Looking back, when I first joined, I never read the rules, and I realized I did end up violating a few. I've read and reread the pages on those topics and will continue to double-check them before making an edit in the future.
I don't remember deliberately edit-warring over anything, but reading the posts in this forum, I may have misunderstood the definition of an edit war. I now know that if something was removed, it was removed for a reason and should not be re-added.
I'm willing to do what it takes to prove that I can be a thoughtful contributor to the site.

~Dpaterson-bl1: Among your recent edits to this wiki were removing comment markup on Zero Context Examples without adding any context. If you had looked, you'd see notes at the top of the article(s) telling you what they are for.
You also don't seem to have a particularly good grasp of writing style, and your post just there shows a disturbing lack of capitalization. We can't let you edit unless you fix these things.

~Dpaterson-bl1: Here's the thing. We don't have a lot of history with you to be able to tell if you habitually write like that or if you're able to do good work. While your response used capital letters, it lacked punctuation, and is so short that it's almost completely nonindicative.
So, what I'd like you to do is post, in the Help with English topic, actual examples you want to contribute to the wiki. We'll be able to tell then if you understand how this works.

I am clear on that and understand that if I slip up again it will mean never participating on this site again. I will also reread the site rules and study them so I know what not to do.
I have been suspended, regarding an ongoing dispute in the YMMV page of Beauty and the Beast (2017), over whether Gaston was a Designated Villain. After posting that, another troper deleted it. It is my understanding that this goes against the entire idea of YMMV. When I restored the trope, it was then replaced, by the same troper, by an alternate version (by slashing together two tropes, which I understand is against the style guidelines) that cast his interpretation as the proper one and the interpretation I provided as wrong.
At this point, I started a dialogue on the relevant discussion page so as to avoid future edit warring. The other troper and I were going back and forth in the discussion page, and he continued to edit the tropes in question while I asked him not to until some consensus could be reached. I also offered some compromise suggestion, while not disputing the multitude of tropes he was adding that were related to the topic. The only editing I did, at that point, was to undo yet another deletion he made of the trope in question, and to remove weasel words in his latest edit that were aimed at those that disagreed with him (and one to fix a mistake when I did that).
I also sent the other troper a PM in order to engage in a discussion directly, to which he did not reply.
I would very much appreciate some guidance on this matter. I've been trying to go about this to the best of my understanding of the rules, but since I'm here, something must have gone awry.
Just give me a week to sort out my spelling.
Fighteer, Thank you for clearing up what the problem was (sorry it took me so long to get back) I have read the rules so I understand generally now what now what I am supposed to do and not to do.

Hey, I'd like to edit the Heartwarming section of the Frank Zappa page to make note of the back cover of Dance Me This which features one of his most heartfelt smiles.
The reason I changed the Unix page's image is because everything about the theming (window borders, colors, fonts) in that current image is related to Ubuntu specifically (which isn't even based of off Unix. The GNU (GNU's Not Unix) system is only Unix-like, not Unix-based. It's in the name.)

I've never had any luck with any sort of group decision making, I'm horrible with communication and at all points in my life the only way I can get anything I want done is to do it all myself (and with most things (including this one) it doesn't even pay off in the end.)
(I'm not blaming you for my problems, I'm just my own scrutinizer.)

Firstly, calm down. The wait for a response isn't personal - mods do not monitor this thread 24/7.
Secondly, your personal history isn't relevant. We simply require that, as a member of this community, you comply with its practices. The wiki by definition is a group activity and therefore you must be capable of working within the group structure. This includes discussion about changes where indicated.
If you intend to work as described above, your suspension will be released.
